My favourite United player

Well, besides Scholes and Giggs: Darren fucking Fletcher. The complete box to box midfielder. Who would have thought that in 2006?

So he's not really your favourite player then is he.

Well. Actually he is. Giggs and Scholes don't count.

Fletch is my favourite player in the current side. He's a great hassler and tackler, decent distributor (and rarely ever gives the ball away), can hold it up as well as anyone in midfield, and has started scoring some crucial, and classy goals. Superb attitude on the pitch, and I've always liked him when I've seen him interviewed; he seems measured and quite articulate IMO.

Absolute class. I hope his career has the tenure of that of Giggs and Scholes.

Fletcher - thrilled every time his name appears in the starting line-up. That tells something.

Not counting Giggs and Scholes, Wes Brown is my favourite player. It's easy to forget just how long he's been with the club.

Anderson --> Alan Smith ---> Nicky Butt

Those 3 in reverse chronilogical order

Wayne Rooney eclipses them all though, just because

At the moment it flits between Scholes and Giggs. Previously it was, apart from those two, Smith, Van Nistelrooy, Tevez, Solskjaer, judging off the shirts I've bought down the years.

Cantona > them all though.

Au contraire. I'm not ignoring them. It's just unfair to compare demigods with mere humanoids.

O'Shea is one of mine. I admire the fact that he knows his limited capabilities and will play whatever role is asked of him. Not my favourite player by any means, just one I appreciate having at the club, and who I feel isn't appreciated enough by many United supporters.

It varies depending on how much effort a player seems to be putting in to be honest. For the last couple of season, Nemanja Vidic was my favourite player mainly because he would have done anything for the team. He'd sacrifice a testicle to get in the way of a shot.

This season, it has changed to Fletch just because he gives everything for the team.

I have massive respect for Patrice Evra and Wayne Rooney also. Also, John O'Shea/

I don't really understand this "favorite player" phenomenon. I am a Manchester United fan/supporter, and love anyone that is wearing the shirt on a Saturday.

I have a preference for home grown players and extended family members but that is about it.

Yea. But you can't deny a fondness can develop for certain players, the one's who'll give their all for the shirt, not disappear off to another sunny country.
