I think a lot of that is down to ticketing though. Personally I would have an enforced ACS, but in a much different form to that which exists today. I think supporters who purchase a season ticket should be required to attend all games. But, I also think they deserve at the outset of the season to know precisely how much they're required to spend on their season ticket. I'd do it so the fixed cost incorporates an estimate of how many cup games you'll have in a season. So the season ticket price wise would be equivalent to 19 league games, and say seven additional cup games (1 Carling cup, 2 FA Cup, 4 Champions League). Although I think a supporter committed to attending every game should have a discount for their loyalty, so that would be incorporated too. If United play less home cup games than that, its tough. If they play more cup games, there's no further additional cost That way at least its all open and fair at the time of purchase. And the club knows its getting a gaurenteed income too. Other clubs have season tickets in a similar manner, where your ticket gets you into cup games too |

I think a lot of the way United runs its ticketing is outdated frankly. But they coin it in as a result, so why change it I guess is their thinking? |

I'd be very surprised if that wasn't their thinking. |

I was actually referring to lower division teams that include cup tickets in the cost of the initial season ticket |

I'm not aware of lower division clubs that include cup tickets actually (apart from the Leyland Daf first rounds). |

I should do some more research before making such claims about the lower leagues actually. It'd definately happened, but there's no saying how frequently and whether anyone continues to use that system. These days clubs like Dale just charge up to £18 to get in anyway, for League 2 footy ![]() |

Yes, the pricing is ridiculous. £24 a Blackpool now if you're not a member. |

![]() That said lower league teams aren't expecting to progress beyond one or two rounds anyway, so there's no saying it would work for a team that progresses to the latter stages of such competitions on a regular basis |

How do they do it for 90 euros. Assuming you only get to see 20 games that's about $8 Aust a game. You couldn't watch Perth Glory for less than about $12 a game and they're pub standard. Do you have to stand outside the ground for that or do you still have to pay an entrance fee on top of it. An Italian mate of mine about 10 years ago was telling me it cost about $100.00 Aust to see a top game in Italy.
