Nice Rooney interview

Talks about himself and bringing in a new striker among other things. Got to love Rooneys mentality.

If it`s been posted before somewhere, I will take the ban I deserve...

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has welcomed the club's pursuit of a new striker.

Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson has not hidden his desire to bring in a new player before the closure of the transfer window as he looks to add to his attacking options.

Tottenham ace Dimitar Berbatov has been strongly linked with a move to United and Rooney admits a new addition would be a boost for the squad.

"There would be an extra burden if we did not sign another striker," said Rooney.

"Carlos likes to drop behind a main striker, which is probably his best position, so maybe I would have to stay up a bit more. I would have no problem with that.

Strengthen
"But hopefully we can bring another forward in to strengthen the team. It would allow us to spread the matches out and make changes for certain games.

"But if that forward does not come in, I am sure we can deal with it."

Meanwhile, Rooney insists he has no intention of changing his game for anyone.

Both Ferguson and Fabio Capello have spoken out in recent days, claiming Rooney uses up his energy helping out the team rather than focusing on scoring goals.

However, Rooney is content with the way he plays and does not believe any adaptation is required.

Determination
"I don't think I will ever lose my determination," noted Rooney. "It is something I have always had. If we are not winning I get frustrated.

"I don't like losing. If you are telling me that is wrong I won't believe you. I am a team player.

"Everyone is saying I should score more goals. But we won the league and Champions League last season - if that happens again I would be delighted.

"I certainly don't have any banter with Cristiano (Ronaldo) about who scores the most goals.

"Maybe he has a chat with the manager about it but I don't."

Personally I don`t read too much into the quotes about a new striker.

Those last lines though, make me want to give up my studies to start a sect which does nothing but warship tiny Wayne Rooney statuettes.

Wayne Rooney will be a Manchester United player to the day he retires i have said it all along. He literally has the club running through his veins these days.

He is my absolute favourite current player.

Stick Berbatov next to him up front and we will see the best from Rooney as well.

I mean if a mediocre player like Robbie Keane can be made to look good enough to spend £20 million, on what will a world class talent like Rooney be like playing off Berbatov?

If Rooney stays injury free i think he will overshadow Ronaldo this year.

Rooney will have a cracking season for United and England mark my fuckin words. He had a better season last year than most people think. Has established himself as one of the premier playmakers in the world. Thats right, he is in Fabregas' and Pirlo's class of creating attacks. Genious.

As much as I love Wayne Rooney I believe he's going to end his career with a bunch of injuries. He's already been around long enough to have had a full career, and with all the injuries he's already had it could go on to destroy him. People who play as much as him and that style usually end up like that. Good thing for him England missed out on the euro cup. Hope we get a new striker to be able to off load him for some games.

I`m not so sure. If my memory serves me right, most of his injuries have been breaks? Metearsals and what not. Breaks are a bit more unlucky than other injuries, and can happen to virtually anyone.

Players who struggle with injuries throughout their careers often have problems with their knees, ankles or muscles. Strains and tears and stuff often happen to players with "fast twitch muscles". Giggs, Ronny Johnsen, Silvestre, Saha come to mind. I don`t remember Rooney struggling that much with those type of injuries. Then again, perhaps I just don`t remember them.

It is true. He is still quite young so it's not time yet to get injuries like that. I just fear he's being over used. Johan Mjällby who used to play for Celtic had 2 seasons in a row + european championship when he joined Celtic for the first time cus the swedish league ends where the british leagues starts, and when he played out his contract he admitted he destroyed his career at that point. He couldn't play regulary after that. Rooney wasn't exactly our freshest player in the CL final.

Good interview. Another quality striker will help share the work load and get the best out of him in his position. How is this not a good thing?
