It's going backwards in desperation because we have been unable to sign a top CM and it's hurt us. He retired because he knew it was his time to go and said so in multiple interviews.

I really can't say I'm in support of this, as much as I love Scholes. Who's next, Neville?

If he's been training with the squad for a while and keeping in shape even as a coach..... he could surely do 20 minutes.

After all... Paul Scholes doesn't work, he makes the ball work.

I've got to be honest, when I first heard these rumours, I instantly dismissed them. I didn't think this would happen, but I'm delighted. My favourite footballer of all-time.

Can't help but think this is just a distraction to get us excited about something.
Pogba is nowhere near the first team right now. This won't change anything.

I'm not sure about this move to be honest. He can't be match fit for one thing. It also shows that Fergie really does not want to sign a midfielder.

Ferguson is a fucking genius. He's just lifted the morale of every United fan in the world from "down in the dumps" to "I feel like I just took 10 grams of MDMA".

Wonder if it means that Cleverley is out long term.

I don't think this says that Fergie doesn't want to buy a midfielder at all. He simply doesn't want to buy one at the moment, which in natural, because there's never any value in the market come January.

Nah, Cleverly is already back in training, he also tweeted himself that he's already out of the gym if I recall correctly.

Needs another possibly 2 weeks though, but its positive news.

Just shows the clubs complete lack of ambition and funds. An extremely desperate act by SAF.

Which begs the question, why didn't he buy a midfielder in the summer knowing full well of fletcher's illness.

FFS Fergie was never going to sign in Jan.

So I can't see why people are behaving like tools. Its only a plus.He will only play till the end of this season. If we sign a mid fielder it will only be next season.

And cunts behave! You are going to see Paul Scholes back in a United jersey playing.

I doubt he expected Cleverley and Anderson to suffer the injury problems they have at the start of the season.

Perhaps Fletcher had not been properly diagnosed yet. Seems more likely.

This.

And I hope the players feel it too. No matter what opinions some may have, there's no denying it's put a bit of a buzz around the place.

Not necessarily.

Just because we need an instant fix because of the injury problem, doesn't mean nothing else will be in the pipeline.

Let's see what happens during January.

I love Paul Scholes.

i'll bet he is just about match fit. Decisions like this don't happen overnight then have him being on the bench. I'm sure him and fergie have been discussing it for weeks, and the decision was pending Scholes getting back his fitness. Surely then he's already been training in secret at first team levels for a couple of weeks now.

Could just be fergie''s way of giving the dressing room a boost though...

Come on, Scholesy!

Who predicted 0-1 (Scholes 90')? I'll laugh and cry if that happens.

I don't care if he's only there to give us another option in the final 10 minutes of every game. That will more than do me.

Absolutely made up about this! But maybe Fergie should start 'listening to the whinging fans' that were crying out for a midfielder, as it was made abundantly clear that reinforcements were needed in this area of the team, because this is nothing but an act of desperation that could have been avoided if investments were made.

I agree. It would be a honor and a privilege seeing an absolute legend once more spreading the passes around again.

Must admit I'm extremely shocked over this, although euphoric! I said the other day that Scholes is a man of his words, that I didn't think he'd come back... I look like a fool now bu who cares!

Bring him on for the last minute regardless of the scoreline just to let him give Silva one of his specials.

Never thought this would actually happen. He's one of my fav players and I'll always be happy to see him play I just hope he's up for it. He's been such a legend I wouldn't want him to look of the pace and have some bad games. He doesn't deserve that. Tell you what though even more then his passing his never say die attitude will be a big bonus to the team
