Plans "in place" for Fergie retirement.
Taken from the same interview that our vice chairman has given. I have no link as I saw it on the tele.
Does this mean someone's been approached if something is "in place"? Or they already have a shortlist? Discuss... |

Stands to reason that we would have a plan for the succession.
I suspect that it is more along the lines of a regularly updated short list and resources we would be willing to commit to securing their signature. Sir Alex will likely go on short notice and i doubt that the secret could be kept all that long, difficult to approach people in that sort of environment. |

He's a right bearer of bad news isn't he? Comes along and tell us the Glazers will be here for years to come, and that SAF's on his way out!
Don't get me wrong, it should be viewed positively that a successor has been lined up, but you don't do these sort of things five years in advance do you? |

If this is actually the case, I fear it may be his last season. I thought it would be 3 or 4 years away.
It would be about right, bowing out with Giggs and Scholes.

Here's what was said:

Anything could happen to Fergie in the near future so it makes sense to have plans in place even if he's not planning on retiring at the end of the season or next. And like Nick said he'd probably be retiring at short notice rather than saying he's going to retire in advance. |

Cheeers Bot.
That sounds a bit more positive. Like I said before I heard this news I was thinking 3 or 4 years. He wants that 3rd UCL trophy to cement his name in the history books. |

SAF will make his decision in time to arrange for his successor to seamlessly slot in, it'll just be kept quiet until the last minute to avoid any affect on the team etc.
