Some were more poor than others.

Scholes was by far the best player playing for United, by some distance.

Did Scholes not finish third in the PFA awards?

Everyone a 4 except VDS -6, Scholes-7, Rooney-5.

They all looked like they had no emotion and no energy.Perhaps too many matches lately coming from behind. You can't keep doing that. Hope they show up for City.

Brown 4 - was he playing?
Heinze 4 - his first half performance actually made me angry. Kept giving 'hospital balls'. Complete liability and if that had been Mickey Silvestre he would have been hung, drawn and quartered by the cafites.
Fletcher 6 - one of few to come out with a little credit. worked his socks off
Carrick 5 - poor game. Needed to be a lion but instead was a mouse.
Scholes 7 - best United player on pitch...but that wasnt saying a lot
Ronaldo 4 - awful touch, sloppy passing
Giggs 4 - gave the ball away more than he actually passed to his colleagues
Rooney 5 - why, why, why do we keep isolating him on his own against arguably the best defence around?

Management: 3
I thought we were going to have a go? Lined up defensively, left Rooney on his own, no surprise the ball kept coming back. Their fullbacks were allowed to bomb forward. Why wait to 15 mins from time to make a sub?
Dare i say it, Smithy should have been on to kick a few of the cunts.
Nice one Geebs, pretty accurate. I`d drop Fletcher down to a 5. and Carrick to a 4. Agree big time about the management.

VDS - did nowt wrong
Sheasy - lacked his usual composure
Wes - only defender who turned up at all...still pretty crap; orange
Vidic - crap
Heinze - sorry all you Gaby enthusiasts, but I hope that's the last time I see him in a European match. Not a top-level full-back.
Carrick - never at the races
Scholes - absolute class
Fletcher - didn't half try, but failed
Rooney - not that bad but not very good either
Ronaldo - terrible
Giggs - even worse

Fuck

VDS 6 - might have done more to prevent the third goal

JOS 5 - some times played ridiculous balls upfield instead of keeping it simple on the ground
WB 5 - some good tackles, overall did not make the defense confident
NV 5 - still in need of match practice
GH 4 - more was expected of him

DF 4 - a decent player but when switch to the right wing was an absolute liability to the team. screwed the layoff from Rooney which could have meant an away goal to build upon. Gave possession away with a wayward pass while attacking which resulted in the 3rd goal. Passed to own defenders in tight situations which led to Heinze's disaster. But, still the usual huff and puff, engine, around the pitch.
PS 6 - just could not exert himself, perhaps the yellow hanging over his head did affect his performance.
MC 5 - stray passes, and slow reaction from a normally efficient Carrick
RG 5 - Never really get into the game, opted for the fancy when a simple pass would have suffice.

CR 5 - tried too hard to run at the Italians, and with Gattuso double-teaming against him, it was going to be futile.
WR 6 - playing the lone striker is not suitable for Rooney, he would have been better if he was paired with Saha or Smith.

LS 6 - No impact

VDS 7.5 - Kept us in it at 2-0 down. Solid throughout.
OShea 5.5 - Kept giving the ball away
Vidic 4.5 - Dominated by Kaka. Lacks match fitness
Brown 5 - Not very good
Heinze 3.5 - Absolute tripe
Fletcher 6.5 - Hard worker, had his moments here and there
Carrick 4.5 - Invisible
Scholes 6.5 - Our best player on the night, not saying much though
Ronaldo 5.5 - Not the 'best player in the world', that's for sure
Giggs 4 - Slow
Rooney 5 - Isolated, worked his balls off all the same but made little happen against a comfortable Milan defense

Saha 5 - Too little too late. Did little of note

Shambolic

Dont judge him because of this game, that´s pretty unfair.

When you´ve been away for a month or something like that and come directly in to a champions league game, you´re not the same player.

Absolutely.

He's been our best defender all season, but he can't be match fit. Or any kind of fit.

VDS 7 - kept United in it..with little help from his back four
OShea 5 - gave the ball away a too much
Vidic 5 - Too rusty. Missed Rio badly.
Brown: 1 - He get one for just being on pitch. Useless

Heinze 5 - Terrible first half. Gave away the ball. Caused the second goal with stupid pass into our box. A liability like Silvestre at center half. Stepped up second half but the damage was done. Sillvestre would have done better than him tonight at left back. I'm certain. I still feel he is our best left back on recent evidence. That injured Frenchman.....

Fletcher 7 - one of few to come out with a little credit. worked his socks off
Carrick 4 - Poor game. Out classed.
Scholes 7 - best United player on pitch...
Ronaldo 4 - awful touch, sloppy passing..His worst United game of the season
Giggs 0 - He was the captain. showed no leadership no drive. Couldn't pass, control the ball or beat a man. Worst game of his career imo...

Rooney 5 - why, why, why do we keep isolating him on his own against arguably the best defence around? Worse still why the fuck did he go for a bicycle kick when the logical thing as to head the ball

Management: 2
We were going to have a go eh? Lined up defensively, Rooney on his own, standing off rather than closing down as a team, too deep in our own half. Concede a goal with in 15 minutes . No wonder Milan had all that space to curve us open. Their fullbacks were allowed to bomb forward into acres of space because we lacked natural width and this standing off crap. .. Worse still they waited to 15 mins from time to make a sub?

Why not arrest the slide at halftime by bringing on Rio, Saha and Smith for the ineffective Giggs, Carrick and Brown? Questions, questions....

The above summed up Wesley's performance yesterday

VdS - Steady in every game, which is a huge improvement from Carroll and Howard or even Barthez but I have seen all three of them pull off some blinders. Better than most keepers around, not in the class of Cech and co. and currently not even Freidel. As I said before, at times I do hope he pulls off a blinder in a game

O'Shea - No composure which summed up the defence
Vidic - Not match fit. Clearly lacked a yard of pace
Heinze - Woeful. Still, huge overreactions by many.

Fletcher - Put some effort into it. Which was better than anyone in the team
Carrick - Read Brown
Scholes - Was the only player looking to do something in the second half. Rubbish first

Ronaldo - Worst game of the season, by a country mile
Giggs - Poor. Gave away possession far to cheaply
Rooney - Out of position, hence rubbish

Fergie/Queiroz - idiots. All season long we have attacked our way out to beat teams. Tried to see of the game

Apart from last night where weve lost the game in defense and midfield - its fair to say that being over run by well organized midfields has been our downfall in europe over the years. Midfield is where the likes of liverpool, chelsea and Milan win their games in europe. In 99 the only powerful organised midfield we came up against was Bayern in the final. So in ten years we have suffered at the hands of Monaco, Leverkusen, Dortmund, Milan x2, Real x 2, Potro, Benfica, Bayern etc And I believe that scholes inability to control a midfield against powerful opposition has been one of the main factors. Fergies midfield tactics are also a factor. Scholes attacking game and vision is second to none and he played 1 or 2 decent passes last night but that was about it. Pirlo for example is stong in both attack and defense even though he has seedorf and gattuso beside him

O'Shea - 7 Something Oddo about him in this match.
Heinze - 7 Got forward well.
Brown - 7 Not much to do but coped well. Weirdly non-orange.
Vidic - 7 Looked a bit greasy, but kept it tight.
Carrick - 9 An absolute monster. Must have grown his beard overnight, and strangely become a hairy dwarf.
Scholes - 7 Shite free-kicks. Good to see him rid of his ginger hair though.
Fletcher - 7 Looked like the tall one out of Dumb and Dumber, but did ok.
Ronaldo - 9 Superb finish for the first goal
Giggs - 8 Showed his class.
Rooney - 7 Like a weird flea.

subs:

Saha - 7 Took his goal well

Milan:

Dida - 6 OK
Oddo - 4 Spooned it upfield most of the game, not comfortable at this level
Jankulovski - 4 Woeful passing, though thought the first goal was Nesta's fault
Kaladze - 5 Orange
Nesta - 5 Didn't look fit, and made some rash challenges
Gattuso - 4 Didn't get any time on the ball, and showed that he needs it
Pirlo - 6 Their best player - ginger
Ambrosini - 5 Decent work rate and passing, not really at fault
Kaka - 5 Disappointing. Kept trying to do it all himself. It's a team game, not an ego trip.
Seedorf - 5 Not much cop
Inzaghi - 5 Not really in the game

Subs:

Gilardino - Had no effect.

All in all, I thought it was a great 3-0 win for the lads in black.

I agree.

Milans lack of history, experience and finesse was terribly exposed.

Their total reliance on the long ball explains just why Serie A is an inferior, obselecent product compared to the Prem.

Bit off far more than they could chew.

Manchester United Ratings

Van Der Sar - 6: Couldnt really do much more. Heavily let down by team.

O'Shea - 4: Bad Defensive Play. Bad Attacking Play.
Vidic - 4: Lacking everything. Slow, Out of sorts due to time out injured.
Brown - 5: Best defender. Overall poor game though.
Heinze - 4: Awful Game. Defending sloppy. Distribution wayward.

Carrick - 4: Stage Fright. Couldnt pass or play for shit.
Scholes - 6: Best of a bad bunch. Which doesnt say much.
Fletcher - 5: Ran about and worked hard enough. Quality was not there.

Giggs - 4: Experience didnt show through at all. Played like a newbie.
Ronaldo - 4: Why you gotta be Anonymous? Shockingly bad.
Rooney - 5: Bad service-He is not fookin Crouch! Still woeful though.

An Absolutely Disgraceful Night of Shame

He was the only who didn't panic on the football, looked like he had time and tried his best to make things happened. Looking around him for something to aim at but there was nothing for him. He was the captain of a sinking ship and to see Gattuso rubbing it in his face made me as fook!!!!!!!!!!!!

VDS 7

O'Shea 6
Brown 5 - better than Carra
Vidic 5 - slow
Heinze 4 - pub player

Fletcher 5 - Fletcher
Carrick 5 - Carrick
Scholes 6 - great effort, little end product

Ronaldo 5
Rooney 5
Giggs 5

That was absurdly easy for Milan. I'm sure you're already aware of this...

He was our best defender on the night. But overall our defensive players were quite woeful. Brown was less sloppy than the others.
