Cathcart is at Antwerpen. Is MistaJohn still aorund? He's got the full lowdown on everything thast goes on down there.
Campbell is at Hull. 3 games and two very good goals so far. Gibson is at Wolves. 2 solid games so far but currently injured according to Planetfootball.com. Martin is at Plymouth and doing well. One goal, three starts so far. Made little impact out on loan to Rangers and Stoke last season, so he seems to have matured. Shawcross is at Stoke. 13 starts and 4 goals so far. Not bad for a center half. Perhaps the least 'exciting' of the lads out on loan, but the biggest hit so far. Bardsley is at Sheff Utd. 3 games so far. |

Nine youngsters are currently gaining senior experience on loan with other clubs, and ManUtd.com's weekly round-up keeps you in touch with how they're faring...
Reds striker Fraizer Campbell won a penalty, which was converted by Dean Windass, in Hull City's 1-1 draw with Sheffield United. Campbell missed a decent chance to win the match before limping off after 77 minutes, while United team-mate Phil Bardsley completed another solid 90 minutes in the Blades' defence. Defenders Craig Cathcart and Michael Lea both completed 90 minutes for Royal Antwerp as Warren Joyce's side were held to a 1-1 draw at KAS Eupen. Cathcart was booked for the visitors, who are now 11 points off the top of the Belgian second division. Ryan Shawcross tasted a rare defeat for Stoke City as the Potters lost 1-0 at high-flying Bristol City. The Reds defender, who scored his fifth goal of the season against Crystal Palace last Wednesday, completed 90 minutes at Ashton Gate. Lee Martin was substituted after 79 minutes as Plymouth's fine form was dented by an unlikely 2-0 defeat at Preston North End. Adam Eckersley returned from suspension to make his second Port Vale appearance, completing 90 minutes of Vale's 2-1 win over Swindon Town. Irish international Darron Gibson missed Wolves' 3-0 defeat at Ipswich, having aggravated a groin injury in the midlanders' midweek victory at Cardiff, while Ritchie Jones sat out Yeovil Town's 2-1 defeat against Swansea City. http://www.manutd.com/default.sps?pagegid=%7BB4CEE8FA%2D9A47%2D47BC%2DB0 69%2D3F7A2F35DB70%7D&newsid=483635 |

I'm still around but finding it very difficult to get interested in Antwerp. They have the poorest side since Danny Higginbotham (good to see him score yesterday for Sunderland) arrived back in 98. Yesterday they won 3-1 against Deinze, Cathcart and Lea played 90 minutes. Frankly, I feel the link with Antwerp is dead in the water. United no longer (seem to) care and the club has no funds or decent youth policy. The ground is a disgrace and Antwerp are already 8 points adrift of top club in second division, or 4 points of the relegation zone, depending how you see it.

Antwerp beat the top club, Hamme, last wednesday, 3-1. Cathcart was away with Northern Ireland (U21 I guess) and Lea played LB. Also Souleymane Mamam got a game. He is now an official Antwerp player, no longer having any links with Old Trafford.

It makes me wonder how players who come up through the youth at United, only to end up in crap teams. How would they feel? Gutted or Relieved?

Why would they feel relieved? Mamam was never at OT by the way. He was spotted by "international" scouts and placed at Antwerp so he could gain EU nationality (if he was any good) but it didn't work out. |

I'm talking about how some would die to just get first team chance, whereas some would try to stay at OT for the rest of their lives.

Brown delighted by Fraizer attitude
Hull boss Phil Brown has hailed the way Manchester United starlet Fraizer Campbell has stood up to the physical battles of the Championship. Campbell has netted three times in six appearances for City and is earning rave reviews for his workrate and overall performances at the KC Stadium. "I've been more than impressed by Fraizer's attitude to the physical side of the game,"said Brown. "He's a dynamic player with plenty of pace. He's a goal scorer. He's technically gifted. "But nobody seems to remember the fact that the Championship is a physical league and you've got to be able to stand up to that, whether you are a 20-year-old or 38-year-old [Dean Windass] as we've got up front at the moment in time. "Fraizer has passed every test that has been thrown at him so far." |

Shawcross unsure of future at Stoke
Ryan Shawcross admits he is unsure whether Manchester United will agree to extend his loan spell at Stoke beyond January. The recently-crowned Championship player of the month has previously outlined his desire to stay with the Potters for the rest of the season, but admits the decision is out of his hands. He said: "It's up to United really. I don't know what's going to happen yet." Meanwhile, Shawcross has targeted a six-point return from the upcoming Britannia Stadium double-header against QPR and Norwich. The Potters, who have lost the last three on the bounce on home soil, travel to Burnley this weekend before hosting Rangers the following Tuesday and Norwich four days later. And Shawcross is convinced City can banish their recent poor home form and get back in the promotion hunt. "It's going to be a tough week and we'll be looking to get as many points out of that week as we can," said the 20-year-old. "We go to Burnley and they could have a new manager by then so would be on a high. Then we've got two home games and we'll be looking to get six points from them." |

Yeah, but he could not have played in the UK when he first came over from China.
I believe the intention was to place him in Antwerp, so he could gain citizenship. But in the meantime he got the caps required to gain a work permit. Its no coincidence that English clubs create links with Belgium clubs. |

That's selling it short, mate. I for one think the Antwerpen partnership is pretty healthy at the moment. It's a shame that they didn't get promoted last season, it's a shame that they kinda suck this season, but Evans, Simpson, Gibson and Campbell all made great progress in Belgium. In fact last season was hands down the best season of this link-up from United's POW. Fingers crossed Cathcart and Lea will come on nicely as well.

Midfield man Darron Gibson said Wolves proved they have craft and graft in equal measure after going toe-to-toe with Black Country rivals Albion.
The loan ace made his return to Wolves duty at The Hawthorns after injury and looked assured as part of the midfield five that suffocated Albion’s free-flowing attack. Gibson’s performance – sticking close to Albion playmaker Robert Koren – illustrated just why boss Mick McCarthy has earmarked a key role for the Republic of Ireland international in the season ahead. The 20-year-old said he was delighted to be back, saying he had enjoyed his first taste of Black Country battle. “I enjoyed it, it was good,” he said. “It was brilliant, the atmosphere was unbelievable. I thought it was a good game to be fair, even in the first half with them slightly on top and then we were better for the second half. “Apart from the penalty I think we did enough to win although I suppose a draw is a fair result. My free kick was very close but just finished up the wrong side of the post. “Having not played for a while I found it a bit difficult in the first half with the game being so quick but in the second I settled down and had a lot more time on the ball.” Gibson reckons that hard-to-beat Wolves are starting to get the balance right between stopping and creating. “I think we are good at stopping people from playing,” he said. “We’ve got three big central midfielders, I think Seyi, myself and Karl are all over 6 ft, but while we can stop others from playing when we get the ball we can play as well. “We’ve got a good squad and a good young bunch of players, I think it’s going to be a good season. “You can talk about 4-5-1 but that’s only when we’re defending, it’s 4-3-3 when we’re going forward. We went out to try and attack and I think we did it well and were perhaps unlucky not to score.” He also paid tribute to Wolves’ penalty hero Wayne Hennessey, who came to their rescue when Neill Collins conceded a late spot kick for a tug on Craig Beattie. The Wales international saved Zoltan Gera’s penalty – and earned plaudits from the Manchester United man. |
