The person I feel sorry for is Lee Mason [referee] because he's put himself in a terrible position. Obviously he was put under pressure. There's no doubt about that. It's hard to believe a ref would send a player off for scoring a hat-trick.

"But he's now put himself in the spotlight and if he doesn't send a player off for swearing then the question will be: has he got double standards? It's a really difficult position for the lad and I feel for him, I really do."
God he's good

Hehehe.....got his point over so well.

That's our Fergs

"There is an issue in the modern world of a need to be noticed," said Fergie.

"There's a wee guy [police chief] sat down in the Midlands, probably never been recognised in his life, managed to elevate himself to whatever he is in the police force.

"Have you ever seen Birmingham on a Saturday night? Do the police there actually arrest people for swearing on a Saturday night? Dearie me. That's a good one isn't it?

Is Fergies' mention of an FA Agenda more relevant due to the
association of the current FA chairman with the dark side of our city ?

Although surely the FA would'nt be that "small time" would they?

Lee Mason let himself be bullied into a corner IMHO , he should have
told his bosses at the PGMO and the FA to jog on.......

anyway, it is done now, until they find the next opportunity against us.......

Everyone is fit bar Rafael who most likely won't play.

SAF with a great analysis. "1-0 is better than 0-0." You can see what makes him such a great manager.

Not of note. These were the interesting things for me:

*Everyone fit bar Rafael who is a major doubt. SAF says he won't risk him. Did some light jogging but will have to do something spectacular tomorrow to change his mind.

*SAF said Chelsea are obsessed with winning the UCL. However United are just as desperate to win it themselves

*SAF finds the prospect of a Real-Barca semifinal mouthwatering and plans to attend the games

*Rio brings composure due to his experience, however this isn't a slight on Smalling who has been outstanding

*Expects fans to play a huge part

*Sees parallels with 1999 when games were coming thick and fast. However reiterates that winning just 1 out of 3 would be a fantastic season

*Lots of praise for Valencia. Tactically a very intelligent player with a good football brain

The question for United is whether this side has authentic credentials to emulate the 1999 treble-winners. For Chelsea, it is the last chance of a trophy – a feeling, as Ferguson said, of "all or nothing". He narrowed his eyes at that point. "It's all or nothing for us as well, by the way," he said, fixing his audience with one of his impenetrable stares. "Make no mistake about that. You are all running away with sympathy for Chelsea at the moment. But we need to win, too. It doesn't make Chelsea any more desperate to win this match than Manchester United, believe me."

10:00 Mixed news from the press conference. As United prepare for the FA Cup semi-final, Sir Alex reveals everybody's fit after the Chelsea game. "We're missing Wayne [Rooney], obviously, which is the only downside. We've got a strong squad - our bench the other night reflected that."

The boss also provided an update on Darren Fletcher, who's not played since 6 March due to illness. "Fletch is back in training, although he's not doing a lot. He's put weight back on, which is good, but he's still a couple of weeks away."

On Owen Hargreaves: "I don't see him playing again this season. He's got this shoulder injury which has put his season to an end. He's carried bad luck all the time he's been here. His contract is up at the end of the season - we have to make a decision."

Press conference at 2pm.

Fabio and Rooney not training today, no explanation from the club on Wazza, but it's not as the last time to avoid cameras.

Lindegaard is back in training. Bebe training away from full squad.

if there's no explanation, how do you know it's "not as the last time"?

Ok, you're right.

Some jurnous on Twitter believes it's not as the last time, because there was an explanation, there's not now.

Possibly given a break.

It was Taylor, he said United are not giving any reason for Rooney's absence other than to say it's not to avoid the cameras.

This is why I hate Twitter stuff being posted without any proper substantiation.

The club gave no explanation apart from explaining that it's not to avoid cameras. Er.. ok...

Dunno, could be a few things but something like Glandular Fever (for example) can takes ages to recover from. They'll be a few more no doubt.

Wayne thinks he's going to training. Maybe it's just "working out" in the gym or something.

My arse. More likely that Fergie has decided to rest him with an eye on Chelsea but doesn't want to appear to be disrespecting Schalke.
