Queiroz didn't do very well as manager of 3 countires and 3 clubs before becoming our assistant but he still did a good job.

Laudrup looms large as Man Utd appointment tribalfootball.com - July 11, 2008 Michael Laudrup is looming large as the ideal replacement for Carlos Queiroz at Manchester United. The Times says Laudrup, who is available after a season in charge at Getafe, would be interested in joining United as Sir Alex Ferguson's No2. ......yes tribal i know, but a link to one of the darkhorses i laid out much earlier. hope him or blanc take it..though there's more chance of laudrup just because he's out of a job right now. |

Just heard it on Sky Sports News now. Good luck to Carlos Queiroz back in charge of Portugal. He has done wonders at our club.
Now we will need a new Assistant Manager. Bring forth the candidates. ![]() |

CQ was great for us and will be among the top contenders when SAF leaves...for now I think we need a good foreign No. 2 to bring in their contacts for future players we sign like Ronaldo, Nani and Anderson...
I like the idea of Cantona or Ole.... |

Fergie Disappointed By Queiroz Exit
Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed his disappointment at the news that assistant manager Carlos Queiroz will be leaving Old Trafford to take up the post as Portugal manager. Speaking to MUTV, the United manager admitted he was frustrated but not altogether surprised at the development. “It is disappointing, but when nationalities come into it,” said Ferguson before adding, “He is a fervent Portuguese man and the attraction is too big.” Despite his obvious disenchantment that he will be losing his number two, Ferguson was quick to praise Queiroz for the work he had done at the club. Ferguson confessed: “It is disappointing, but he did a great job and that has got to be remembered. He goes with our best wishes.” Queiroz was in his second stint at the club having left previously for an ill-fated spell at Real Madrid before returning to Old Trafford in 2004. Since then United and Queiroz have enjoyed great success, culminating in last season’s Premier League and Champions League double. Ferguson admitted that Queiroz was directly responsible for much of the club’s recent success. He admitted: “A lot of innovations we have had in the last few years are down to Carlos.” With Queiroz now departed, the search is on for his replacement with a number of former players thought to be in the frame such as Brian McClair, Laurent Blanc and even Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, Ferguson declared the club were not in a rush to make any appointment. He concluded: “We will take our time, as we normally do, and we will wait and see how things unfold.” |

I don't know if this has been posted but this Carlos's statement/goodbye message:
Queiroz: I'll always be a fan Carlos Queiroz issued this statement after United agreed in principle to release him from his contract: "It is with a very heavy heart that today I leave the greatest football club in the world after five fantastic years. This has been a special period in my life both personally and professionally. I have been so lucky to have had the opportunity to work in first class facilities with a staff team who are at the top of their profession. "Our players on and off the pitch make the difference and to them also I owe a great deal of gratitude for their hard work, professionalism and most of all their performances. I feel we have in place the basis for the next generation to follow in the tradition of such world class players as Sir Bobby Charlton and George Best. "Of course our success as a family is based on strong leadership and in The Glazer Family, The Board, David Gill and not least of all Sir Alex Ferguson we have the support and skills to stay at the top. To Sir Alex, I thank him for his faith in me and his knowledge, spirit and desire from which I will take strength and have confidence in my new role. "I will forever be a fan and admirer of the club and also thankful that I had the opportunity to be part of such a great institution, a vast organisation but with a unique feeling of family and community. This leads me finally to our fans - local, national and international. I thank them for their fantastic support and encouragement in my time at the club, always there when we need them to support us both home and away in huge numbers. "In conclusion I wish everyone at our club, continued success in the years to come and to continue to enjoy a brand of exciting, attractive and winning football, admired and respected the world over." |
