A charitable interpretation would be that he was ready to play for free; I think he knew, especially as he was pictured having a medical the day after England played at OT ages before he actually moved! Anyway, that's not really the issue I suppose! |

We should have just kept our own counsel - let Real spout all the rubbish they want. Anyway we've not actually been angels in our transfer dealings over the years. |

Whatever, we certainly haven't been whiter than white in the past. If you ask me, this announcement - along with the "rot in the reserves" stuff - just shows how badly rattled we are by the whole thing. Which worries me ![]() |

Be nice to see that fat fuck Blatter, or that garlic twat Platini do something constructive instead of laying into EPL. If Real don't get reprimanded then there is no point in clubs behaving as they will see there is no punishment. A points deduction or exclusion from the CL would make the fuckers listen.

I can't see that we'd complain, unless we've got concrete evidence that can drop them right in the shit.
Just speculation, but it could be that it's not in the best interests of Rons agent to see him go to Madrid & he knows something that will help our case? Last time we took a stand over Obi Mikel it cost the renties a good few quid. |

It's probably bollocks but the paper story about Real asking Ronaldo to go on strike is worthy of action against Madrid....one would think that Utd had evidence of something like that to warrant an official complaint, otherwise I see no benefit.
And in response to other people claiming Ronaldo is blameless in this, he could have stopped this very easily. By refusing to answer questions he's only fueled the rumours. Best case scenario is that he's just after more money, and even then it doesn't reflect well on Ronaldo. Some of the vitriol against Ronaldo is over the top but in my opinion, even though it may hurt the team in the short term, I see no way that a lot of fans will welcome him back with affection. And as others have said, his price is probably the highest it will be. I'd ask him straight if he wanted to go and if so, sell at a ridiculous price. Of course it's all speculation, but his constant refusal to clarify his future or correct printed "quotes" only fuels the rumours.....if we were reading that Gerrard wanted to go to Chelsea with the same quotes and Gerrard refusing to answer questions on it, we would all consider it viable. I think a lot of people are burying their heads in the sand!! |

We made a bid. Bayern was the one that made it public. We had a few quotes from Fergie and Gill that you would expect from a club trying to buy. A lot of quotes from Hargreaves himself trying to make it happen. Lots of media speculation. The transfer window closed. Over the next 12 months the media kept linking us, but our management made very few, if any, quotes about him. Most of what was said came from Hargreaves himself. Then the transfer window opened again and the usual stuff happened, culminating in him signing with us. Most of the stuff that came out during this time was from Hargreaves and Bayern themselves. Whereas Real have been talking about Ronaldo for years, with their manager and president constantly saying that they want to sign him. They have a newspaper that they are linked with constantly print ridiculous stories about him and photoshop him into Real Madrid jerseys (this won't be part of our case against them though since it isn't the club itself). Far, far more official stuff is coming from their club, with a player who has been nowhere near as obvious about wanting to move. Indeed, everything he has said until the last week has indicated that he wouldn't want to move for a couple of seasons. All without once making a formal bid, and probably not even making a proper enquiry about him. We're not saints here. But every single club, particularly the big ones, do exactly the same. Real Madrid go far further. |
