Record Breakers!

84 minutes played - and we have now broken Chelsea's record for most consecutive clean sheets in the Premier League. Simply awesome.

The defence have been incredible. 8 different combinations in the 11 games too which doesn't help.

Even more amazing if you look at the back four we had to play. Evra, Brown, Rio out but still we looked solid, whoever stepped in. Credit must go to Vidic as well, he's been immense

1104 minutes would set the all time football league record, currently held by Reading in their Fourth Division promotion season of 1978/79.

Chelsea set their record with the same back four at all times.

We've had nine different combinations apparently (!).

i think this would be it. On international level Italy had some 500+ min, which was just international games. not sure, but we would set this in next few games.

Its a magnificent record to have but lets not dwell on it too much. Keeping clean sheets should be a regular occurence from now on. Lets try and keep our good defensive run going as long as possible. It makes the job of the attackers a whole lot easier once they put the ball in the net.

I see some pattern here. Arsenal had the same problem in 2006 when they couldn't ever play their first-choice back four, but went on an amazing run in Champions League when they didn't concede a goal in play-offs until final. They even played Flamini at left-back and Senderos was a regular in the middle from what I remember.

Well done lads! We were a little dodgy at times today.

Keeping this run going will give us an incredible sense of belief and confidence in our ability and destiny...

Do let's keep Cahill in our pockets. The great surprise returns today of Rio and Wes Brown were thoroughly welcome!

Probably the Ac Milan team in the 93/94 season. Scored something stupid like 36 goals in 34 games and still won the league.

Congrats to VDS & our magnificent defence !.... an icredible achievement giving our attack-minded nature & our varied defensive line-ups.

Not alone are we THEE best attacking team, we are obviously the best defensively too! ....... (Scousers, take a deep breath.... &..... now sigh!)

This deserves a post.

Ridiculous achievement, who would have dreamed that when Nasri tore a hole through our ragged defence in the first half that we wouldn't concede again for so long.

Stunning, Vidic player of the year.

What makes it even better is that we've played some fucking tough games

City away - anthing can happen in a derby

Spurs away- were revived under harry at the time

Villa away - 3rd in league

Stoke away - after coming back from Japan

Chelsea home

Truely brilliant.

Anyone bored?

If so, wouldnn't mind someone maybe trying to find out what Chelsea's defence was in their run of matches, as for me, what makes this even more impressive is that our defence at times has been anything but settled

Some media are giving the time as 925 minutes and others 1025 minutes. Add on the extra 6 minutes left and we get either 932 or 1032. As the record is 1104, if the 1032 is correct then we really could get the ALL-TIME Football Record (from any division)....in our next game. Now that's a record!

If my eyes are with me, then we've never had the same back four two matches in a row. And we've been without the greates centre back in the world in six of those. Insane stuff.

Chelsea's, in comparisson, would be

Norwich: Gallas, Ferreira, Terry, Bridge
Aston Villa: Gallas, Ferreira, Terry, Bridge
Portsmouth: Gallas, Ferreira, Terry, Johnson
Liverpool: Gallas, Ferreira, Terry, Johnson
Middlesbrough: Gallas, Ferreira, Terry, Smertin (midfielder I know, but he was replaced by Johnson on 50 minutes so either Chelsea played 3 at the back until that point or he played in defence)
Tottenham: Gallas, Ferreira, Terry, Johnson
Portsmouth: Gallas, Ferreira, Terry, Bridge
Blackburn: Gallas, Ferreira, Terry, Bridge
Man City: Gallas, Ferreira, Terry, Bridge
Everton: Gallas, Ferreira, Terry, Bridge

So basically, 3/4 of their defence stayed in tact for the entire run with Johnson (and Smertin possibly) coming in during what I'd assume was an injury for Bridge.

In contrast, we've had our backup central defender play half of our matches (Evans), a squad player appear in 8 (O'Shea), an 18 year old start 5 (Rafael), lacked last seasons first choice right back for the entire run (Brown), and even if we take the liberty of calling Neville our first choice right back, we didn't once have our first choice back four start together once. Incredible really, it just shows how strong our squad is at the moment.

But he has to keep Wigan and Bolton at bay if he wants to beat Petr Cech. The Chelsea keeper currently holds the record after going 1,025 minutes unbeaten before Norwich's Leon McKenzie scored for Norwich in March 2005

I'll try and wiki that season, and see what happens

hmm, found the run of games

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chelsea...Premier_League

Right, seems I was bored enough

18th Dec - Norwich (h) - Cech, Ferreira, Terry, Gallas, Bridge
26th Dec - Villa (h) - Cech, Ferreira, Terry, Gallas, Bridge - 0 changes
28th Dec - Pompey (a) - Cech, G.Johnson, Terry, Gallas, Ferreira - 1/2 changes
1st Jan 2005 - Liverpool (a) - Cech, G.Johnson, Terry, Gallas, Ferreira - 0 changes
4th Jan - Boro (h) - Cech, Ferreira, Terry, Gallas, Smertin - 1/2 changes
15th Jan - Spurs (a) - Cech, G.Johnson, Terry, Gallas, Ferreira - 1/2 changes
22nd Jan - Pompey (h) - Cech, Ferreira, Terry, Gallas, Bridge - 1/2 changes
2nd Feb - Blackbun (a) - Cech, Ferreira, Terry, Gallas, Bridge - 0 changes
6th Feb - City (a) - Cech, Ferreira, Terry, Gallas, Bridge - 0 changes
12th Feb - Everton (a) - Cech, Ferreira, Terry, Gallas, Bridge - 0 changes

That's the games according to wiki, settled central defence and GK, was just changes at FB
