Fair enough, I just remember being stuck in a traffic jam on the M4 a couple of years ago and listening to the Villa home game when Green was crowing about how we had nothing on the bench then Macheda came on to make it 3-2. That prick is loathsome.
Apologies for any confusion.

They are politically biased too mind.

Wanker.

It's 14 anyway. More than anyone else, although as I said above I always think it's common sense that attacking teams get penalties.

We scored 4 from pens in the league - don't think RvP missed 10.

So there.

You can still lay it off before you thrash Liverpool, Everton do one on Chelsea and Spurs implode.

The penalties stat was for all tournaments. Iirc Arsenal got a bucketload in the CL group stages, a number of which were dubious Chamakh flops.

Well that's just horseshit statistically. Different numbers of games, different numbers of homes v aways, different quality of opponents. PL numbers are the iron rations of comparative stats.

These stats?
* Arsenal – awarded 14, converted 11, 11.8% of goals have been penalties
* Liverpool – awarded 8, converted 6, 11.8% of goals have been penalties
* Manchester City – awarded 9, converted 7, 9.6% of goals have been penalties
* Chelsea – awarded 9, converted 7, 9.5% of goals have been penalties
* Manchester United – awarded 5, converted 3, 3.8% of goals have been penalties

We were awarded five pens in the league, are you saying we didn't get a single penalty in other tournaments? Because we did, so why are you comparing our five penalties (only counting the league) to Arsenal's fourteen (including all tournaments). Shady.

As a fully paid-up RatNog (rational Norwegian who frequents the CE forum) I could see a problem there.

Feeky's article seems to have been written just under 3/4 of the way through the season (he says after 27 league games at one point) so I imagine the stats were correct for all comps as of then.

3/4 or 1/1 or whatever, I still feel we're not getting our money's worth (I assume us paying refs is beyond question, seeing as I see it mentioned 1000s of times over the course of a season)

So most top PL teams get about a pen every 5/6 games. About 0.2 probability. Getting two v Chelsea was 0.04 before you factor in pens being more prevalent v weaker opposition. Make that factor x2 and you get a 0.02 probability. Ie it was a 50/1 chance that you got a draw last Sunday.

You can not claim that an incident is dubious by looking at the probability AFTER the incident has occurred.

That would be like me thinking that something is fishy after witnessing a car accident because the probability of it happening while I'm passing by, listening to "Keep On Pushing" by Curtis Mayfield is close to non existent.
