Rio Ferdinand - I hold my hands up - He is quality

Had an issue with the Transfer fee and his bad boy rapper image when he first arived. But I think he has been as solid as solid could be over the last 2 1/2 seasons

Credit - forget about the Christmas Party and the drug testing issue, I think he is worthy of the captain's Armband and has dispalyed all the qualities needed on the field to be very good at it.

Himself, Vidic, Evra and Brown are the best Back line in the premiership and unlike previous seasons oozes confidence.

Dislike him intensely and don't think I will ever like the guy. Hate seeing him with the armband. Class A wanker.

Bell end, he's probably the best defender in the world, quite funny too in his post match interviews.

Takes one to know one.

I think Rio is the best centre half in the world, has done daft things in the past, never affected his performances though.

I agree. ***-liked a couple of seasons back.
But he really seems to of knuckled down, and now i can't think of anyone else in the world i'd rather have at centre back.

Good to see that he´s getting more and more respect from United fans, he deserves it. Obviously he´s acted like a jerk before but that´s in the past, in the last seasons he has stayed out of trouble and he´s been a great player for the club. Our best centre back and IMO the best in the world.

I´m also glad to see that United supporters who think they´re "redder" than others because they hate Rio are getting less and less visible, although I see they still exist

Felt like that before But I have been turned over.

Class act on the field, leads the line and confident on the ball. Starting to pay back his transfer in bucket loads this and last season.

Deserves to be captain after Neville. Needs a word in his ear from time to time Christmas fiasco should never have happened

Keane was no angel when he was with Unied at the beginning.

He gets harshly criticised by a lot of people IMO. No, he's not an angel, but he's certainly not a cunt or wanker.

Fair enough.

I don't like him as a person either, but his football ability cannot be question for the past 2 years.

you can't dislike someone's personality unless you know them, personally. judging people by how they're portrayed in the media is a mug's game.

Bit strange to bear some sort of stupid grudge, just because you might not get along, or because they get a bad rap in the tabloids

I don't know any of our squad personally so i judge them on the pitch. I didn't like KR's attitude on the pitch, so i disliked him as a player.

Rio is a leader on the pitch and a fecking awesome player. I have nothing but respect for him

Oh, he's thick as pigshit and twice as wet, but when he puts his attention paying cap on, there are few better.

He hasn't taken it off for the last couple of seasons, to be fair.

He single handingly cost us 3 times in Europe and may be able to cross a good ball but is a liability in the back line.

But that is another day.

Rio is the most important member of our team - without him we look vulnerable.

He's not the most likeable of characters but I hope he is our next Captain

I agree he is prone to the odd mistake in a big game, but not many would argue with his consistently good displays at the back over the past 12 or so years.

Himself, Vidic, Evra and Brown are the best Back line in the premiership and unlike previous seasons oozes confidence.
And don't forget the 'accidental' meeting with Kenyon down Chelsea way the summer after which wound United fans even further.

But in all fairness, he's deserves respect for 2yrs+ of great play. Frankly, he's been awesome. Any United fan who hasn't forgiven him yet are unforgiving.

He should BE captain.

No one could question his footballing ability.

Hes certainly one of the most gifted CBs I've seen. The way he plays he makes it look so easy and as if it takes little effort.

My issue is more with his personality and his fuckwittery..

On the pitch - Great
Off the pitch - A complete knob.
