For some reason, him being Brazilian and all, I don't reckon he's much of a cricket player...

Here's the customary Youtube clip of him.
No idea how to embed it though.

I'd rather we gave him some chances than spend £20m or so on Veloso personally. He does have quite a few midfielders ahead of him agreed, but who knows if they will all still be at the club in August.

Not to mention despite this apparent wealth of midfielders we have, John O'Shea still found his way off the bench and into the centre of midfield at Stamford Bridge of all places.

And don't forget, Gary Neville played as a central midfielder when he came on against Roma at Old Trafford..

But seriously, I hope to see Possebon given the chance next season. He has the potential and talent..

You're obsessed with John O'Shea.

Injuries forced our hand that day.

Exactly my point though. If we have sooooo many midfielders, we would have just put another midfielder on wouldn't we? The fact is, everyone is saying how Possebon would never get a game, in fact, you yourself said he would need a few injuries, so i pointed to a scenario when we had to use O'Shea.

Eh, we can't have a bench full of midfielders. We had already used one of the midfielders on the bench to fill in at right back due to Vidic's injury.

Yeah, surprised me too.

But, that's not the point though. O'Shea didn't play midfield because we're lacking midfielders.

Looks like we are siging Aaron Ramsey also because the Mirror says so so but himslef and Ramsey look like gems for the future from what little Ive seen of them. Might see them go out on loan. Would be nice to see them at our new feeder club Sunderland!

They guy is a teen and has even't played a full season in the reserves and suddenly he's going to be a first team player? Not a chance. Probably another stint in the reserves and a loan move next January.

Rodrigo is part of arguably one of the most competitive midfields of all the top European clubs. But he does have enough talent, that will see him jump the queue if he develops well.

don't get me wrong, Carrick is my favourite United player. but I think Rodrigo has the potential to be like him with better attacking abilities.

Who's saying he should be a first team player next season? I'm not reading the whole thread again so I might've missed something, but I thought we were talking long term potential here. And about the Jones/Eagles comparisons: Yes, they were classy at reserves level, but the odds were always against them given that they have significant weaknesses (Jones' pace, Eagles' temprament or lack thereof). Same reason I've never been too excited about Pique. Rodrigo has a long way to go and will like most people most likely come up short in the end, but for now I see now reason not to be excited about his potential. His touch and passing are top notch, and he seems like a bright, hardworking lad.

People keep saying how he's never going to figure next season because we've got so much cover in the center. Remember when we bought Evra, or even Vidic? Of course, that's different, because they weren't intended as prospects but as first teamers, but if the kid has got enough quality you never know.

If we send him out on loan we need be v. careful who we send him to. Type of player that might really struggle in the championhip if he ends up playing in a team that plays shit football.

I don't have to face squat. I'm good enough.
I famously called Torres' fee pretty well....

But who cares?

Chelsea just never bothered to negotiate the Boswingwa fee. That's their loss. Our negotiating powers on the other hand, in the last summer have proved to be very good. Hence, since Veloso hasn't made such a splash for himself, I believe us or another wise club can get him cheaply.

Bosingwa cost that because lots of clubs were interested and Porto knew they could stiff Chelsea a bit. Same usually applies to the players we're interested, and the clubs we deal with.

£18m for Hargreaves was not great in my book, and we committed a lot of money on the others, though probably money well spent.

True. I have the same concerns over Welbeck. Let's hope the 7 subs rule offers another route or at least increases the chance of youngsters going on loan to lower half Premiership sides rather than Championship sides.

I have been so impressed with what I have seen of him so far. I think he could be great.

I really really hope this 7 sub thing will get people like him a few sub appearences to show what he can do.

Our choice of players has been very good, but we've paid top whack.

Worth it, but top whack nonetheless.
