Ronaldo clinches awards treble

http://picsrv.manutd.com/?fif=/manu/...35406&cvt=jpeg

The individual awards keep rolling in for Cristiano Ronaldo, who has picked up the Barclays Player of the Season and Barclays Golden Boot awards to complete a sensational season.

The 23-year-old Portuguese wing wiazard also collected a merit award for reaching 30 league goals this season.

Ronaldo was pivotal in United's Barclays Premier League title success and it was no surprise that he earned the Barclays Player of the Season accolade for the second year in succession.

Whichever way you look at it, Ronaldo has been exceptional this season, and the stats back it up. His 31 goals from 34 league appearances helped see off stiff opposition for the awards from Arsenal’s Emmanuel Adebayor and Fernando Torres of Liverpool.

It's the first time a player has scored more than 30 league goals in a season since Alan Shearer’s 31-goal haul for Blackburn Rovers twelve years ago.

The merit award for reaching 30 goals will also benefit one lucky charity as Ronaldo will receive £1,000 for every goal scored to be donated to a charity of his choice.

However, for all the personal awards showered on the Madeiran magician, his sights will be firmly set on the Champions League trophy in Moscow next Wednesday.

It will Ronaldo has 62 points. Fabiano has 48 points and Guiza has 52 points. Guiza needs to score 5 goals in his final match to equal Ronaldo. Another rival is huntellar, he has 51 points but would need something like 7 goals to beat Ronaldo.

Guiza's playing for Real Mallorca, a real talent

Huntelaar is out of game methinks. May be wrong

Anyway, fan-fucking-tastic news for Ronaldo

Huntelaar probably wont win. Goals in the eridivisie are given less points or however it works out due to it being a weaker league.

Ajax have a play-off match for CL football. I think that will be his last match. I'm not sure whether it counts for the golden boot as the league is really over. Anyway it's 1 more match and he won't score 7 goals so he's pretty much done.

Yeah man its left with the world player and ballon d or.But the thing is i believe it would have been easier to win the world player last season compared to this as the euro 2008 is on and im afraid fifa might take into account an outstanding player at this tournie. If theres no euro 2008,Ronaldo is the world player for sure.Fantastik.

But he's beaten that cunt's record, that more than makes up for it!

He also has a better goals per games ratio because he missed four league games this season whilst Henry's missed just one game four years ago!

Not so Va Va Voom now eh cunt?

He tied Shearer with 31 that's pretty damn good, I'd take that next year, the scary thing is I said that about last year's total as well!

Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted that he must win the Champions League if he is to be recognised as the world's No 1 player. The Manchester United winger has scored 41 goals in an incredible personal campaign but last night set his sights on next week's final against Chelsea in Moscow and outlined his determination to be the best.

"I have been totally surprised by how many goals I have scored as I am not even a centre forward. But to be the best in the world I have to win titles like the Champions League and the Premier League.

"I am a winner and I have a dream that we will win the Double this season. It would be madness if we did but why is it not possible now?

"It is not easy to win anything, especially not the Champions League. I think if you win that then you go down in history and that is what I want."

Ronaldo, 23, who yesterday showed off his Barclays awards for player of the season, Golden Boot and 30-goals, has already played a demanding 48 games this season for his club and will be starring for Portugal in the summer's European Championships.

But he said: "No player gets tired when they are winning games and trophies. This is the type of situation now that players dream of. Manchester United is a 'superclub' and we are obliged to win things every season. So tiredness does not come in to it.

"Next season we will be obliged to repeat what we have done and I'm sure that we will."

Ronaldo can only lose next season. It will be almost impossible to score as many goals as this season or to even score more and the muppets will be out quickly to say he's not the player he's used to be and his legs are gone...

Yeah, remember he didnt score v. Reading or Pompei and got a red card in that game, I dont know how many he played but that means he net 31 times in United's last 33 games in the league. PFA Player of the Year, yeah I think so. I could see him getting around his goal tally of this year give or take a few tbh, his finishing ability is out of this world he can score goals in so many ways its astonishing

I'm not complaining, but it's getting pretty ridiculous now, where does he put them all? Dont forget he's got another one to come, it's the football writer's association awards tonight.

I know that.

It`s just that he throws in big words now and then that makes him sound quite fluent, but then you still hear him talking about how "I`m confidence" every interview.

So its not only me who gets bored, they should stop interviewing him he says the same thing every time. "I have confidence... my teammates they give me good passes and i score..." etc.

Yeah it was ridiculous at the united awards, he didn't know what the hell he could say near the end.

Amazing the amount of personal achievements he's amassed in the last two years. I expect him to sew up the "best goalkeeper" award next year as well.
