Meh, sick of all the hype. Minimal effort and the boy can't pass a ball properly. Assist production is way down from past two seasons, good indication that it might be best to sell while we still can. In footballers' years, he's like 35. Bet I get at least one.

People said the same when we paid £29m for him. I think he has proved that he has well and truly been worth the money.
What, when he's fit enough to get a game? Torres is a good player and when fit and on form probably every bit as good as Rooney but in different ways. However I don't think many would swap Rooney for Torres. Have them both maybe , but I wouldn't swap Rooney to be honest.

It amuses me when people get on their high horse and say that NOBODY is worth nearly 9 million quid per year. And then say that nearly 7 million quid per year would be more realistic.
You utter cocktards. It is all monopoly money type figures and you have to realise that a player is worth a) what they can get and/or b) what it costs to keep them away from other clubs. |

Nike offer Wayne Rooney £500k bonus if he is top goal scorer - IMScouting
Another NOTW gem. Not to mention whatever bonus England will give him to be the top scorer. |

If he is so committed to the club then he shouldn't be demanding such a high salary surely?
I know thats naive and Rooney probably has very little, if indeed anything to do with contract negotiations and will almost completely rely on his agent who is obviously in it for personal gain. Agents R ghey. Still, Rooney is a special player and one of the best in world football right now at what he does so he can probably get away with such a high figure, although as others have rightly mentioned what this does for others in the future and potential transfer targets is raise base salary negotiations. A dangerous procedure and one which United currently cannot afford to do as we are already operating close to bone financially. |

He probably deserves to be the best paid player in the Premiership. People have said Torres is better than him but if you take their whole careers into account, including internationals, and also factor in that Rooney is over 19 months younger and is a better all round player, I think that Rooney has been better.

He should only get it if he promises to spend 70k weekly in the local economy, it would give a great boost to the economy, create jobs and community spirit. At the end of the day, how much money do they really need? Its more than the average person earns in a year or two (and in many cases nearly a decade) Its getting ridiculous now.
