Rooney's CL Debut v Fenerbahce
Just on MUTV again - reminded me that Rooney managed a hat trick when our starting line-up contained Djemba-Djemba, Kleberson & Bellion.

Was watching this too just now on MUTV, saw it up til the 4-2 goal which was really Rooney's fault for smashing the ball for a corner from about 45 yards away hah, still not sure why he did that but the match was all about him - the best ever debut I recall seeing.
His best goal of the night was probably the 2nd one in my opinion, it was completely out of nothing and was explosive. I think he's definitely become a better player technically etc but seems to have lost that selfishness (for lack of a better word) in front of goal. Almost like he doesn't believe in his own ability to do it himself, maybe he tries to be too creative at times and play others in but I hope this season we see the Rooney who was more explosive in front of goal and willing to have an effort from range - he has a brilliant shot on him so I don't see why he doesn't use it more often. |
