At least we don't have the league game sandwiched in between it as things are always trickier then and I'll doubt we beat them three times. It's weird because the PL is the one I want us to win most yet when the advert for the away CL game on Itv came up I had just a small flicker of that nervous feeling we get, like Milan, Barcelona and Arse ties. This is a massive game. Papers will build this up as Moscow revenge, predictably and I hate that.

Hoping for a score draw and believe we can get one but just can't see us winning based on the recent past/luck at that ground. Do they still have a fully fit squad? They almost have nothing left to play for so will be mega geared up for this one.

Why are Chelsea our bogey team? Not just in the days of Roman, but since the PL began (they did the double over us in 93/94)

They are the only team with a better head to head against us in the PL years and have beaten us more times than any other at Old Trafford in the same era.

I prefer when we play on sundays. If we lose it doesn't ruin the wife's whole weekend.

Its sad isnt it? and my missus is the same. She has no interest in football. But desperate for Utd to win purely down to how it affects my mood.

If we lose 12.45pm on a sat. She knows the weekend is fecked

My missus has been advised that as of Sunday we are opening her birthday bottle of champagne - still sitting there, waiting for the perfect moment.

Chelsea are probably the most overrated team ever. No matter how many titles we win people always seem to put them as favorites for some reason or you get brainless threads lile these wondering whether they were better at the time than a united team that won the league three years running.

It's a weird thing with chelsea. Not sure what the reason for it is. I reckon people get fooled by their performances when they physically impose themselves. But football isn't just about that.

Wow an actual Chelsea thread.

I'd be happy with a draw in it. I think it'll be enough to win it then.

On the other hand imagine beating a team being hailed as the best ever (not claiming so myself) in the CL final. That would take the legend of SAF to whole new proportions as well as the name of the football club IMO. The recognition Fergie and United would receive for such a beat from all across Europe will be incredible. I would so happy for the club and indeed him if it happens.

On the other hand I'm sure some will deride him for being in charge of a team that lost such a huge league.

Two sides to every coin.

A good point.

I guess it's just personal preference at this stage, win the league and get number 19, or beat that Barca team as massive underdogs to win the CL.

It really would be a spectacular bottle job to let Chelsea win the league after being 15 points ahead with 2.5 months of the season to go. And it would really affect our confidence to go into the CL final having thrown away the league.

Not losing tomorrow is more important than whatever we do in the final imo.

And we're good enough to reach the final next year and win it anyway

We've beaten them four times this season, and hammered them (even if the scoreline didnt reflect it) in three of those wins. Christ, we were even the better team in their ref-assisted victory. Chelsea's gifted title last year was the fluke, not the four other years of Mancunian dominance.

Hmm, might go bump a couple of the threads from the start of the season where about three of us were slagging off Chelsea's weak squad against a tidal wave of "they're the best in the league!"

So Chelsea again next weekend and given the way Carrick & Giggs performed against them last season should we go with those two again (i.e. drop Anderson who's been brilliant thus far this season)?

Think it'd be pretty shattering to his confidence if they now dropped Anderson. Were both different teams now, don't use what worked last year, think Fletcher will play against Benfica though, so I dunno what he'll do against Chelsea.

I have a feeling Anderson will be rested against Benfica and will Play against Chelsea. Maybe we'll do Fletcher Giggs & Park in CL and then Carrick and Anderson vs Chelsea.

Have to say though, I've rarely felt as confident going into a match against Chelsea. We should be miles better than them. Our rock solid defence and awesome attack should compliment our so-far solid midfield enough to smash them.

drop our best midfielder to play 2 players because they played well against a team last season (which is irrelevant) who haven't even been in the starting line up this season? yea okay.
