Eh? That rule outlines two scenarios. In one scenario a player uses his hand to prevent a goal (i.e. clearing a shot off the line) in the other, he uses his hand to stop the ball reaching an attacking player and presenting him with a goalscoring opportunity (think Dawson in our game against Spuds).

It absolutely does not include a longrange effort hitting a defenders arm, with the keeper another ten yards behind him. When did you ever see someone getting sent off for something like that?

It doesn't outline any scenarios. You have suggested two scenarios. A third is denying the opportunity for a shot to go in as Ferdinand did. The fact that it is rare (or even if it were unique) is irrelevant.

Desperate.

Never a red card.

it was only in slow motion that you could see it hit Ferdiands arm. He was attempting to block the shot with his body, just unfortunate that it hit his arm. Why would he try stop the shot with his arm on the edge of the area? Maybe you have a case if he did it off the line.

I'd say it was fortunate seeing that no pen was given or red card issued and crucially your keeper didn't have to make a save that he might well not have managed.

it wasn't even his arm, more like his shoulder. Rio knew what he was doing and he did it.

No penalty bitterstorey, sorry.

I cant believe how bitter you are.

If you think it was a red you're deluded. Bitterness clouding your judgement perhaps.

Chamions.

If Ferdinand should have been sent off, what about Gallas at Old Trafford? Denied a clear goalscoring opportunity (both because the ball was goalbound, and because Ronaldo was running in behind), and yet only received a yellow card and gave away a penalty.

It wouldn't have been a red.

I'm actually amazed how ridiculously bitter you are. I'd expect this from a Liverpool fan, after all, they're genuine rivals. You're a good team from London, who, if one of us falls off our plinth and no longer challenges for the title, there'd be no rivalry anymore.

Stop being so insufferably bitter and pathetic.

Rio should have been sent off?

Peter, where does this hatred and bitternes re. United come from? And don't say it isn't there, because it shines through in every post you do regarding United.
