Team selection tonight

I was disappointed with it tbh. If we were taking it seriously then why did we play like we couldn't be arsed? It was a great opportunity for players like Campbell, Evans and maybe Possebon or Gibson to play and instead we've now got Scholes sent off (and probably banned for the next Champions League game?) and tired Anderson unnecessarily.

If I were Evans or Campbell I'd be very disappointed tonight.

I don't think playing Campbell and Possebon would have made much of a difference. As much as people on here get excited about them they are not at the same level as those Zenit players yet.

It wasn't just us - The Russians played well, and the UEFA cup side always wants it more.

That's not my point at all. I know Possebon's nowhere near the level of Paul Scholes but if we select a serious team to try and win it they need to play like they want to win it otherwise we might as well give some younger players/fringe players a run out. The advantage with the kids is they'd be much more keen to impress.

If we'd played the other players and lost people would go nuts with the team selection. This is not a competitive match. This cup is an invention to promote football. It goes out to millions of viewers all over the world who think the same thing, that this is something big, and the clubs need to field big players to promote their own team. The exact same thing as when we go to China or America. Winner of the CL vs UEFA cup winner. It is quite daft really.

Evans was injured. Campbell may well be sold this weekend. Gibson should be worried.

I think Fergie really did want to win this. He did not expect some of the players to not take it seriously. If Evans and Foster had been fit then I think they would have played.

The team we sent out looked pretty serious to me considering those who are missing. We just didnt perform on the night apart from Tevez. Thats why we lost. Still its better to lose this than the bigger prizes to come. Lets make sure this is our one and only wake up call for the season.

Could happen. If we get Berbatov then he's at least going on-loan to Hull. But who knows, we might accept this "substantial offer" from Hull: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/foot...ty/7589224.stm

I hope you're wrong abot Campbell. What do our kids have to do to get a chance here?

It will not make any sense to sell Campbell as soon as Berba arrives. Then we're down to three strikers and a lottery ticket (Manucho) again.

I think it will happen though. If Campbell was meant to be playing any role with us this season surely we would have given him some minutes against Zenit?

we don't need the money, ffs we already sell Saha, why further weaken our sqaud, this is pure madness.

this is pathetic, we might as well scrap away our youth system if we never give our kids a chance.

In Campbell's case, be as good as Rooney or Tevez.

Easy peasy then
