Tevez-I'll sign up now

Carlos Tevez wants to make his move to United permanent and says he would sign a contract “right now” if it was put in front of him.

Tevez is currently still on a loan contract, but with a Premier League winners’ medal already secured and a Champions League final to come next Wednesday he couldn’t be happier.

"I would certainly love to extend my contract, I am very happy here,” he said. “I would go and sign right now if the opportunity was there.

“From day one, everyone has treated me well and the fans even shout 'Argentina', which has made me feel right at home. That is why I am so happy here. Now to have the opportunity to win two big trophies is fantastic. The atmosphere around the squad is amazing.

"A lot of South Americans prefer to play in Italy or Spain when they move to Europe. Maybe one day I’ll play in La Liga, but I’m really pleased that I came to England. This is the best league in the world and I’m amongst some of the best footballers in the world. I’m really happy about that.”

Having experienced life at both ends of the Premier League table since arriving in England in summer 2006 – avoiding relegation with West Ham and winning the title with United –
Tevez is well-placed to judge the state of the English game. And it comes as no shock to the diminutive forward that two Premier League sides are contesting the Champions League final.

“I’m not surprised it’s two English clubs in the final,” he said. “It’s the best league in the world and these are the best two English teams. I’m looking forward to it hugely. They’re happy days leading up to a final. We’re all excited about playing in such a big game.”

The Argentinian says the trophy-winning experience of Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes could help make the difference between winning and losing.

“We have experienced players who know these situations,” says Carlos. “Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes can settle everyone down and help us prepare mentally for the game. It would be brilliant to make this the second big trophy of our season. On a European stage and the world stage.

"It will also be interesting to see how the teams line-up tactically. Hopefully it will be a free-flowing game. It depends how the manager sets out his stall. Sir Alex Ferguson likes to play attacking football but it doesn't really matter as long as we win.”

Now now Carlos, don't get the Real Madrid higher ups all hot and sweaty with excitement.

Fantastic attitude though in all seriousness.

His workrate is great and I love how much heart he shows but he still hasn't convinced me that he's worth his eventual £30 mill price tag. Maybe we'll see alot more of him next season after he gets a good rest in the summer.

CARLOS Tevez is ready to sign a permanent contract with Manchester United.

The Argentina international has enjoyed a superb debut campaign with the Reds following an acrimonious summer move from West Ham.

Having signed on a two-year loan, United officials are investigating the best way to sort out Tevez's ownership situation with Kia Joorabchian and formalise the contract.

Given the length of time it took to get Tevez to Old Trafford in the first place, reaching a resolution is unlikely to be easy.

But, after waking to confirmation of Cristiano Ronaldo's eventual desire to play in Spain, Sir Alex Ferguson will be comforted by Tevez's statement of intent.

"I would certainly love to extend my contract," said the 24-year-old.

"I would go and sign right now if the opportunity was there."

It is hardly a surprise that Tevez, like most South Americans - and Portuguese for that matter - would one day like to experience life in Spain.

But he is unequivocal about his desire to remain with United and win trophies under Ferguson.

"La Liga is a possibility eventually but that day is a long way off," he said.

"I know a lot of South Americans prefer to play in Italy or Spain when they move to Europe but I am really pleased that I came here.

Comparisons

"This is the best league in the world and I am among some of the best footballers in the world.

"I am not one to be making comparisons between clubs but Manchester United are right up there with anyone in the world.

"When there were problems last summer, everyone assured me it would reach a positive conclusion and I am glad it did.

"From day one, everyone has treated me well and made me feel right at home. The fans at Manchester United even shout 'Argentina'. That is why I am so happy here."

Not that he has has abandoned his roots, even after two years in England.

He remains a Boca Juniors fan at heart, which is perhaps no surprise given his childhood in Buenos Aires and the fact he played for the club aged just 16.

Perhaps more of a shock, certainly to Ferguson, is the fact he set his alarm for 4am yesterday to see Boca held 2-2 in the Libertadores Cup by Mexican side Atlas.

"I follow all the games live when I can and although the Atlas result was not good, I still believe we can get to the final," he said.

The use of the word 'we' was quickly corrected but Tevez does little to dissuade anyone of his passion for home.

However, there are more pressing concerns just at the moment, like beating Chelsea in the Champions League final next Wednesday.

In collecting his first major European medal by helping United overcome Wigan to lift the Premier League last weekend, Tevez knows he can cap a truly memorable campaign by winning in Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium.

"It is great to live through and experience the build-up to such a big game," he said.

"I know, even in South America, after the World Cup and the domestic tournaments, it is the most followed competition. For a player, being involved in it, it is the second biggest thing you can be involved in after the World Cup."

Nice interview. Seems like such a great guy Tevez.

Tevez found the right club for him.

He's happy to play especially with Wayne Rooney in the front. They're like brothers when they play together.

Absolutely wonderful player. Biggest pressure means nothing to him. He kills every pressure with his hard work on the pitch.

More players like him, please.

totally disagree man. This is 2008, and this is the price you expect to play for the quality that carlos is. Has been instrumental in the clubs achievements this season. has kept quiet when SAF hasn't played him. workrate been fantastic when he has played him. some important and fantastic goals.

in what way would you like to see 'more' of him next season and how much do you think he is worth then ?

This is getting silly now. All this talk of La Liga is getting annoying. Real and Barca must be creaming themselves at the thought of signing our players in the future.

Absolutely. The Premiership is the best and most exciting league in the world and they play for the best team (as a team, United at this time are the best, as a club, it's arguable for many) in the world, which has retained their league title and has been in the CL semifinal for the second time in two years and are now playing in the final.

All this contract talk shouldn't exist ffs.

This La Liga talk comes from all the South Americans,Latins etc.

Its natural.

People watch Liga or Serie a there rather than the premiership.

Can Tevez Speak English?

Just wondering, since when he was about to join us, it was said that he spoke little or no english. Has that changed, has he gotten any better since he came to us, never see him interviewed in english.

The weather is the only reason players leave England to go to Spain.

It's why home grown talent is so valuable...they'll never fuck you over in such a way.

Indeed...

But then again Hleb found an even more ridiculous excuse the other day... London is too noisy! Go figure!

I think we can sign Villa for around 20m given Valencia's situation. Unless his price can be negotiated, I'd wait before making Tevez's deal permanent especially since he has another year on loan.

If Tevez would consider La liga then he'd also consider staying at United longer then he implied he would.

Also he's worth the money, because he is just like Rooney and as we all know, two Rooneys are better then one.

He said La Liga would be a long way off and acknowledged the premiership as the best league in the world and United up there with the best in the world.
