United Fan Charged With Shouting Racist Abuse
courtesy of Oliver Holt on Twitter: "So now a MUFC fan is charged with shouting racist abuse at Stoke players. Another example of how wrong we were to think problem had gone"
Anyone hear anything else about this? |

Hopefully a lifetime ban will be forthcoming as well.
Fucking mong... and it's good (and a relief) that people reported him. If any mong sat around me said anything racist, I'd report them straight away... and I'm sure most on here would do the same. |

I don't think anyone intends changing his views, just preventing him turning up at football matches and racially abusing footballers. A lifetime ban should do the trick.

The whole Terry-Suarez thing has bought the whole issue of racism back into the spotlight.
I wonder if the United fans would've turned the guy in previously. I'd like to think so but I've an uneasy feeling that such things go on at grounds every week and go unreported. Perhaps that's the good thing to come from the whole sorry affair. People suddenly have the balls to complain and know action will be taken. |

It's like when there is a major plane crash, all the little one's you'd never usually hear about get reported for a month or so.
People have been getting evicted from football grounds a couple of times a year for racism for yonks. Good to see people are aware of it, but lets see where we are in 5 years time eh. |

This is the evidence that will categorically prove that Suarez is innocent.... no wait its not!
Seriously though, unfortunately we all know this happens but the best way to stamp it out is for fellow supporters to take responsibility and speak out which happily is what happened in this case. |

I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't want to get involved so good on those who complained to the authorities. Unfortunately there are still some individuals out there who have negative views on people based on skin colour. It is strange as you wouldn't do the same to someone based on hair colour or other physical traits. At the end of the day the difference is a slight genetic variance in the skin pigment. Anyway always good to remove these vermin supporters from being associated with the club anymore.

Ban him for life. Why's this being reported now anyway, happened before the Evra/Suarez and Terry/Ferdinand incidents, I am aware he's only been charged now but surely he was reported way before then. Racism will always be around, there will always be idiots. What confuses me is how this fella can cheer Nani's goal and then go turn around and racially abuse black players. The media have a very funny way of dealing with issues.
EDIT: Ignore, because of the time taken by the relevant authorities to deal with the other racist incidents I incorrectly assumed it was the away game. Point still stands with the guy in question being an idiot. |

Wrong game my bad. Still baffling, especially a few days after the Liverpool game and what happened with the fella in the white cardigan. The media coverage is annoying though, I'm sure there were many fans who got charged for racial abuse before and the media didn't really bother reporting it. It will be an issue now but for how long will it be. I'm completely baffled some of them thought racism was no longer in Football.

I don't think the Tevez/Suarez thing has had any impact. United's matchgoing support has had an excellent reputation for not being a home to racists for about 30 years. People know that if you go to a United match and shout racist abuse, the fans will turn on you. They don't usually shop you, but they certainly stop you doing it again.
