Really pleased he was reported by a United fan.
No place for this in our stadium or any other. He needs a very public life ban to show other clubs how we deal with this and to set an example to any other bigoted idiots! |

Unfortunately a life ban won't change this chap's views or what he deems as an acceptable vocabulary when referring to members of other races. The problem with racism isn't that you have these morons using racist language, the problem is a lack of education causing people to hold these views.

All we, as a club, can do though is make a stand by showing that it is not acceptable and hope that future generations think about the reasons behind it. |

I cant believe that after all the spotlight being on Liverpool for this type of stuff, a so-called United fan goes and does that. What a fucking idiot. Hope he gets prosecuted

What he said wasn't necessarily accurate but it seemed that he wasn't sure what else to say other than from what we experienced with his encounters with black people. The idea of race anyway is a funny one (social construct). To me, saying you dont like a certain group of people is different than making gestures or name calling (saying the 'n' word) or using aggression or other means to make them feel uncomfortable. If the guy doesn't like black people, that's his problem. I'm not going to plead with him to like me. Although, I would correct him on any inaccuracies and at least educate him a bit. At least he's got his feelings out instead of harboring it in like most people do but then act as if they have no problem with said person. No doubt racism is a convoluted issue. However, not being honest about you feel about one another isn't going to help matters. Obviously, there are good and bad ways of going about it, but it definitely be conducted in a civil manner. As far as we've thought we've progressed, there will always be reminders that we haven't and that there's still a long way to go. I wouldn't actually mind if one of my white friends came up to me and said that based on his experiences with black people, there are x and y things they don't like about us. I at least know where he/she stands and the discussion can just carry on from there. It's just a shame that whenever this issue seems to come up, it's just brushed under the carpet and people act as if everything is great only until some event or random action causes some people to come out of the woodwork and it seems we're right back at square one. Once again TH, you basically got it spot on. People need to be educated about it and I feel part of that isn't done because no one is really willing to talk about it. It's not the most comfortable thing to talk about but some things despite how uncomfortable, need to be hashed out and dealt with. This is one of them |

One of your ass-lickers, Piara Powar, just called a sikh guy a coconut on twitter. Been reported to the police. Oh how I liked listening to Piara telling me, a Pakistani, off for supporting Suarez while at the same time thinking of me as a coconut. Oh the ironing.

Edit: Just googled Piara Powar... I see is he is one of those fortunate enough to be on the paranoid scouser hate list because he had the audacity to comment on the Suarez affair. Mind you, by now it must be getting on for half the population who are now on the scouse watch list under suspicion of being minions of the evil lord ferg, so it's hardly much of an achievement by Mr Powar. Anyway, if we could get the thread back to what it's about... this is the United forum, after all. Back under your tin foil hat, Dumpstar. |

Not exactly sure why people are proud of the fact he was reported by United fans. Yes, OK, it shows we have decent, or basically normal, fans who abhor this, but it also shows we have our own share of racist idiot fans.
Using it as a point scoring exercise over Liverpool fans overlooks this fact. |

He clearly wasn't a United fan. This re-born racial abuse culture in football, reintroduced largely by Suarez, Kenny and Liverpool is drawing these people out of the woodwork, using football matches as a vehicle to spout their hate

One racist fan being reported by those around him does contrast with a racist fan only being caught because people saw him on TV, while all those around him were buys booing a black man because he had the audacity to report being racially abused. I also think the general tone of this thread, compared to the whinging and paranoia that came out of the scouse forums after the incident last week speaks volumes. You are right though, that using any of this as a points scoring exercise doesn't really do anybody much credit. |

Yes of course the fans who reported will hopefully inspire other clubs' fans to do the same and the club will follow suit with a ban.
Just like GB said though, shame we have an idiot who would do this anyway, let alone in the current climate. |

Much as we (and most clubs) like to have pride (justifiably in our case) in the make up of our support in general, at the end of the day anybody has the option to decide to support United (and millions do) and there's nothing the rest of us can do about it. Other, that is, than highlight and ostracise the dickheads, which is why it's important that is what happened in this instance.

So:
Racial abuse on the pitch = 8 game ban. Racial abuse off the pitch = 3 year ban. All we need to find out now is the length for: Racial abuse if you are a big man = ? |

"I'm not racist," he told the bench. "I have coloured people in my family and most of my best mates are coloured. I don't know what came over me. I'm deeply sorry ."

Well at least fair play to this United fan to regret it and apologies. Decent people do make mistake and he's going to pay for it.
To bad Suarez and Dalglish are not men enough to admit they were wrong... |

Like echoed above, you can't help who you attract... my missus said to me the other day 'see your team has them too' well yes, you can't stop people from supporting United but you can stand together and say no to this kind of shit and turn them in which is what happened. When an undesirable turns up you cast them away and reject them, you don't embrace them like Liverpool did. One fan being a dick and being turned in by the decent people around him is so far away from thousands of fans standing by someone who admitted what he said and booing the subject of the abuse.

Yeah, doesn't he know the modern excuse is "where I come from it's acceptable and it shows that infact you are the ones with the problem!".
