United Legends Semi-final 2 - Team Polaroid vs Team Cal?
This is a United Legends Fantasy competition, where voting is open to all Redcafe members other than the managers of the semi-finalist teams. Managers are required to assemble their squads of United Legends by selecting players who have made at least 100 post-WW2 appearances for United based on their performances for United and overall footballing impact/contributions to United. As in any team, team tactics and balance also play a part. Hence please carefully consider the abovesaid factors and evaluate the merits of both teams before voting for the team which in your opinion is the better United Legends team. Polls will last for 1 day. Thank you.

Cal?'s defensive trio of Van Der Sar-Vidic-Rio is the envy of this competition. Captain Marvel was the inspirational heartbeat of United for over a decade. Rooney, despite his relatively young age, has already contributed significantly to United's stellar success in the past 5 years. Ronaldo is a special player whose 42 goals in United's double winning season will always be remembered in United's history.

Polaroid's formation looks bizarre, looks like Footballuser went mental on him.
He has the better back 5 and the better midfield. Cal?s front four would be a joy to watch but Polaroid's are -err, supposed to be- very good. Polaroid will look very strong picking Ronaldo/Rooney (or even Robson just for the joy of having him). |

There is no more adding of players after the secondary draft so I cannot add any of Cal's players even if i win. |

If you had a flat midfield four with Whiteside a more withdrawn member of the front two, people would probably find it easier to digest and still get the point. Everyone would assume Giggs would be more advanced than Beckham anyway. You would just need to point out Whiteside's role supporting Taylor and getting stuck in if needed. Also that Edwards will drop back to protect the back four and contain Robson if needs be. It would be easier on the eye and it would be unnecessary to think deeper. Just a neutral's opinion, but clarity could well swing a vote or two in the final. |

I think with Edwards and a young Giggs (2 legends of the extreme) protecting Evra, Ronaldo may end up having a quiet game.
I think Polaroid's Beckham-Taylor express will win the game. His team also has better options off the bench. Incredible that Violett our 4th highest goalscorer ever can't get into the team but I think Pol has got his team correct, although the formation structure is a bit strange. |

My criticism towards Cal's team is Evans and Saha. I'd prefer Neville at left and Berg at right back with Cole up front. Evans' and Saha's contribution to United just hasn't been/wasn't that much compared to Berg or Cole.

Cal probably chose Saha for his familiarity with Rooney and Ronaldo which is also understandable |
