Again, I'm pretty sure no player has moved between the Old Firm in over a century (1906). Agree with what you're saying in terms of players turning out for both Inter/Milan, Barca/Real, etc.

I prefer watching United-liverpool for obvious reasons, but I have to say El CLasico is the biggest match going.

The quality of football on show, political agendas, liverpool v United is generally very scrappy and shitty to watch..but El clasico is the sex.

madrid barca is more glamourous due to the clubs, the superstars that they buy more than united/liverpool do, the open nature of the game.

however united/liverpool has more hatred throughout all pillars of the game (fans, gaffers, players, etc).

if laudrup or figo played for either of our lot, no way he would be 'crossing the divide'.

i reckon united-liverpool is tastier off the pitch as well.

Spot on as always Spoonster.

City is our derby.

However... no matter how much money they have, they'll always be a ten bob laughing stock.. so invariably.. it's no great spectacle.

...except for this year when it was fucking great.

Barcelona v Madrid is the bigger game. The fact that we haven't had a truly exciting game against Liverpool for a while doesn't help, Barcelona v Real tends to be free-flowing with lots of goals.

It's not even close to being United - Liverpool, chaps, I'm afraid to say, big game though it is.

Livepool-United. Just check the transfer record between both clubs. & how the likes of Owen and Ince are considered Judas' despite having moved to the rival club via another team.

I don't see how the transfer record between two clubs makes their matches any bigger. Theres plenty of matches bigger than United Liverpool (to football fans in general that is, not the clubs supporters).

Barca vs Madrid is bigger than football. Much bigger. My Basque mate hates football, but he watches every game between the two clubs. It runs deep.

I guess United vs Liverpool is bigger than football alone too, but in a much more limited way.

Liverpool will have to get their arse back into gear for ours to be the biggest derby

Madrid and Barca are miles apart. Might be the bigger game but it's a bit bogus to call it a derby

According to some spanish journalist the game was followed by a number close to a billion people. That can't be true though can it ?

I'd say Real-Barca is the bigger game. Both teams are always involved at the top of the league and fighting it out with each other for top honours. We don't really have that with Liverpool, it's about pride more than anything when we play them these days because they haven't really been a threat to us a whole lot in the last 20 years.

No but there is a geographical element to ours. Well more so than Madrid and Barca

Isn't Rangers v Celtic the most massive fixture?

Watched the Real/Barca match today and wasnt all that impressed. Utd/Pool is much better. You dont see United and Pool hugging and kissing on each other before the match. I think crowds is much more into it as well.

IMO the more biter the rivalry the bigger the game. That is why for me few top the Argentine "war" between Boca and River.

In terms of coverage it has to be the El classico. The whole of Spain stops for that match, that doesn't happern when we play those red cunts.

What do you'll think ?
I think ours is at least a derby, if you can call it a North West derby at 30 miles apart. Madrid and Barcelona are 300+ miles apart.

Never mind.
