I've never understood this point, and yet it comes up every summer. Manchester United, from the player signing standpoint, is a business. Surely it acts as fast as it possibly can in each and every scenario? Obviously there are factors that can slow it down (or prevent it) beyond its control, such as the target player's preferences and our own preferences and internal questions (are there better options? etc...). But honestly... I've never bought any of this, "hurry up" stuff for a second. Does anyone think that once a transfer we definitely want becomes available Fergie and Gill just sit back and say, "nah... I think we'll wait a few weeks on this one." I'm sure they work as fast as the club and the scenario of the transfer (budget etc...) allows. Queue people telling me about all the past transfers we haven't gotten because we were too slow. I just don't buy it... |
