United vs Spurs: battle of the airline passengers

Confessions of a cabin crew -Times Online

Very nice boys

“We often get football teams flying to European games, and it’s always interesting to see how they behave. Without doubt the rudest was Spurs. They were going to Prague a couple of years ago, and they were all very impolite. None of them said thank you for anything. One player in particular, a striker, sat with his headphones on and refused to take them off, and none of them would lift their window blinds for takeoff and landing.

By contrast, Manchester United were incredibly polite. Sir Alex Ferguson was all “yes please, no thank you”, and all the team were exactly the same. They were all linked up together playing Fifa football on their Game Boys or PlayStations or whatever they were. They were like a bunch of little schoolboys. The only one who wasn’t playing was Ronaldo, who just rolled his eyes at me whenever I walked down the plane, as if to say, “Look what I have to put up with, with these kids.”

Sorry but that is just class.

And you just know that him doing that forces the rest of the players to do it as well, I love the man.

Do I smell the inception of some kind of chant for the Carling Cup match?

Taking off headphones does require a lot of effort.

Possibly. Presumably they were talking about this game:

BBC SPORT | Football | Europe | Slavia Prague 1-2 Tottenham

February 2008. It'd be Berbatov, Keane or Bent

But it could also be:

Uefa Cup: Slavia Prague 0 - 1 Tottenham | Football | The Guardian

September 2006. Where it's either Keane, Defoe or the much more likely Mido

Nice to see Fergie leading by example. It annoys me when ABU's go on about him being a 'bully' and such. He's a well-mannered and top class bloke, and it's nice to see our players following the example.

Top Reds.

Is it really that classy?

Its just normal, human behaviour. Just a shame that some footballers cant behave like that.

I think it just emphasise on how much importance Sir Alex put on being a representative of a club like Manchester United.

I don't think we should be giving our manager and boys too much praise ffs ! Should'nt this be perfectly normal, expected, civilised behavior ? Rather we should just laugh at the arrogance of the Spurs mob....... how would they have reacted had a member of the
cabin crew been a relative of one of the players or management team ?.......

I can picture Fletcher and O'Shea fighting over who gets to be Ronaldo in the video game.
