It's all part of the day for me...

I'll meet up with the group of lads i go with, and drinking is just part of it.

It may enduce twattish behaviour, but that's always been a part of Football, and if i'm honest, i think it needs to stay to keep it's soul!?
Obviously not smacking a kid, but other examples.

I don't know. There's a difference between acting like drunk footbal fans, and twattish behaviour, but you'll always get the odd group who take one into the other.

Being loud, supporting your team, and swearing at people slightly more than usual isn't going to harm anyone. It might annoy a few people, but it's generally part and parcel of being at a footy game.

Causing damage to property, charging bars and the like though, can cause serious distress to anyone caught up in the middle, and costs people time and money to fix.

I don't really think we'd lose anything without the later.

All seaters came in as a result of the Taylor Report. The Taylor Report was into ground safety after Hillsborough.

My mate got a slap coming out of Fratton yesterday.

Deserved it to be fair, we were dancing about and that, but he was wearing an Arentina flag, and Portsmouth is the type of place where that does'nt go down well...

I also just wanted to bump the thread as Fred and Ralphie have'nt added to it yet

The flag is fine...

The police ofcourse conveniently did not see what happened despite being 5 yards away.

One of funniest aways was turning up at West Ham in a hearse around 85 season. My mate Mark had a part time job delivering hearses all over the UK. He had to deliver this particular one to some Edmonton on the Monday, so cunningly he decided to deliver it on the Sunday of the game. So three of us went in the Hearse and two others in mark's brothers Escort (class eh). Best bit was seeing the faces of the fans as Gibby laid in the back motionless like a corpse as mark drove down Upton Park road to the multi storey..!

Brilliant, can just picture hordes of hammers fans removing their flatcaps in respect.

I guess European aways is the closest we can get to turning back the clock in terms of pratting about in city's that are unprepared for 'English Twits'.

I was in Milan season before last & me and the lads got into a taxi demanding to be taken to the nearest strip club, no word of a lie, the taxi driver literally did a u turn & stopped - club was on the opposite side of the road & tried charging us 8 euros. Me and the lads refused to get out, he literally had to wrestle each one of us out of his cab. And when he pulled one person out, they would run around the other side of the cab & got back in, so funny.

Norwich and Ipswich aways in the 70's and 80's live in the memory, United convoy through the country and quiet country pubs taken over by hundreds of reds.! Not to mention taking the away end (Well ground) at Norwich two seasons running in 74 and 75..!!

No it's not. The reason we have all-seater stadia is because of police negligence that lead to the dreaths of 96 innocent football fans and a knee-jerk reaction by a Lord Chief Justice who didn't really understand the issue.

70,000 people can bounce up and down at a rock gig at OT, but it's too dangerous with football fans??

The fact we all stand at aways anyway make having seats more dangerous, got clattered on seats last night celebrating the goal.

Not that I've ever noticed it in any significance with our away support. I don't get to away games unless they're localish ones I manage to scrounge a ticket in the home end for, but I can't say I've noticed any hostility from our mob
Hmmm.... hang around the away turnstiles at kick off and you'll see that United are the roughest away fans in the land. Like it or loathe it, it's the truth.

I've spoken to numerous Safety Officers and Football Liason Officers and United are considered the worst by a long way. After that City, Villa and Newcastle apparently.

Trafford Borough Council did a risk assessment on persistent standing in the Stretty about 5 years ago. The conclusion - persistent standing was low-risk. Sitting down and jumping up at moments of excitement was medium risk.

Of course, the highest risk to fans at OT is those muppets who leave early and stand on the stairs waiting to get out - one of these days there's going to be a goal, a crowd surge, and lots of broken bones.

This makes sense, it seems no matter how many tests or recommendations made from senior safety officials, I dont we'll ever see an all standing section again, piss poor.

Umm interesting. I went last season and it was definitely a better atmosphere now they have a roof. But to be honest the away fans didn't come across that well on the telly (not that that means anything).

I thought Villa away in the Cup last season was the best atmosphere. Blackburn was quality for the carnage that ensued following the equaliser though.

Roof improves it no end, but you could tell just by looking around queing to get in that it was a clued up away end.

All the tickets in the right hands for once.

Aye, i got nicked outside Villa, so it was Blackburn for me!
