i agree with what you say in keeping cashley quiet did a fine job..

BUT what about trying to take him on and get some crosses in etc.. i know he has no left foot and obviously very predicatble but im sure cashley was happy to not be tested all that much..

he did kicked with his left foot today at the end of the game near our own box... so that means he can use them. I think for him, it is still a mental thing or probably just some tactical restrictions given by the coach. That is why he is hugging the byline most of the time and tracking back to cover our RB. Ronaldo doesnt need to track back as often when he played for us. Valencia will be a key asset to us in the long run.

Valencia did well enough today. He did exactly what was asked of him by SAF anyway. His decision making could and will improve.

If he could stop running towards the flag and tring a late cross, I'd be very happy.

Valencia wasnt the weak link, that was giggs. He wasnt outstanding but contributed at least as much as most of the squad, thoroughly decent performance.

Did a great job tracking back and keeping tabs on Cole, average in attack though.

Had a poor second half, but he made Cole work hard in the first half and was one whistle blow away from embaressing John Terry. He was like almost every game... Solid but unspectacular.

Just take Beckham and Neville all those years, Beckham got space as Neville was constantly overlapping him, we need some more from our RB in an attacking sense
Yup, he sometimes stopped and waited for overlaps which never came. Whenever Neville has played this season he's been constantly overlapping and had a better understanding with Valencia. The understanding and communication between O'Shea and Valencia has often been non existant.

No left foot at all. Same every game - tries to get to the by-line and get a cross in. Expected a bigger threat for the money we paid to be honest.

Valencia Told To Shoot With Power

Surely you have all heard the damning stat: Antonio Valencia scored seven goals in three seasons with Wigan - so how can we expect him to fulfil Cristiano Ronaldo's boots? We never expected that from him but that's another story.

The current story is that Valencia has notched four times already this season which, statistically, is a marked improvement on his record with Wigan. And it is not accidental, neither only down to the fact that United are a much better team than Wigan, thus creating more chances in games. The truth is that Valencia has been instructed to work on this aspect of his game.

'We have been saying to him to shoot because he has power in his shooting,' Sir Alex said. It brought results: he's starting to turn into our Frank Lampard with two deflected goals to his name already. This sort of knack is something we've been missing for a while - and don't forget that Valencia hit the bar at CSKA and at Liverpool as well so he could, theoretically, have six goals to his name already.

He'll never be a Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of goalscoring but if he reaches double figures (which he is well on course to do) I think we can be more than happy with the 15.25 million we paid for him.

"he's starting to turn into our Frank Lampard with two deflected goals to his name already" <-- that's not a quote. would have been funny if it was though...
