VDS is disgracefully underrated in the world of football. Even by some United fans. He has been sensational for us.

Word. I think all the fuzz about the definition of a legend is childish though. Enjoy the players and call them whatever you want.

Very true.

Especially by PeterStory.

Fantastic keeper for me and a great professional and human being too. Love the man.

For me he ranks way, way, way higher than Ronaldo.

If not quite Legend then certainly close - sorry we didn't get him earlier but very pleased we got him in the end.

good luck for the Future Edwin you will be very much missed

Are you kidding? Akinfeev has a fantastic kick on the ball with his right foot from what I've seen of him in the Euros.

I agree that he's shady in the area, but at 22 I think he shows fantastic potential for a goalie mind.

As for Edwin, well, underrated is the word to describe him without a doubt. He's been marvellous for us, and he deserves all the credit he can get! One of the best in the game for well over a decade!

Sometimes a best way to judge a quality underrated player is if PeterStorey thinks they aren't that good

Edwin's been great for United and good luck to him. I hope the lads can win a trophy for him in his last season.

I don't want to live through the post-Schmikes years again after VDS retires, but that cannot be avoided. We will struggle to replace him once again.

Nah I trust Foster to come good, he is more in the VDS mould in terms of dependability.

VDS has been one of the world's great keepers for years, one of the best of his generation. He'll be hard to replace.

Bit much calling him a legend for his part in the CL win, great player though and done the club proud.

Its either time for Foster to step up or blow a load on Boruc i'd say!

Yes, definately. That celebration after he saved Anelkas penalty was so pimp!

That celebration alone makes him a legend

Ronaldo should watch and learn from people like VDS, who have done everything in their careers, yet still maintain dignity and common decency. VDS is one of those players you are proud to have in your team.

Hes good alright(looks like a younger version of Boruc), not sure i'd want to sign him as i wouldn't mind Foster getting a chance. He was linked with a move to United in the Observer, the Sunday after the Champions League final.
