Fucking hell, Rubber-man, you're being deliberately obtuse now, are you? This is not about how many chances they create, this about the type of chance they create (i.e. they only ever create half-chances ). Cause that's the only way you could try to justify a low chance conversion rate for Berbatov.

And there's absolutely no way that they consistently create chances that are more difficult to finish than the chances that United create. Seriously, that's crazy talk.

I'll be able to console myself that playing Rooney out of position did in fact feck him up

hang on...

You could argue it is easier to score for Spurs than for United, as the opposition is more likely to play a more open game against Spurs than against United.

On the other hand, United players have better team mates than Spurs players, which will go some way to cancel it out.

Do you reckon we should buy Kuyt to play as the out and out striker?

There is nothing revolutionary about drawing games 4-4. It is filed under the chapter called, "Can't fecking defend and can fecking attack" in the Footballing Handbook.

It is refreshing to see a side play such open football though.

If Rooney kept fluffing one on ones (difficult or not) his confidence would eventually fall. Strikers need goals for confidence. How many times does Rooney's performance level suddenly up by 10-20% after he has scored a goal? The answer is: frequently.

Also, it is no surprise Rooney gave such a snappy performance - Liverpool is all the motivation he needs.

Fuck's sake.

Chance conversion % is not affected by how many chances a player gets!!

Errrm, that's a little unfair, we have one more player than them.

Take out the fact that Ronaldo shoots at every opportunity going, whether it even be a half chance, and it's about equal.

Considering you mention there Spurs' strikers only, and yet you include one of our wingers, then that's a pretty falso statistic. Include people like Malbranque and Huddlestone in there if you want to start putting in midfielders.

And once you start doing that then the statistic becomes meaningless. Keep it to strikers -- the two main ones and their backup.

Then it is:

Our forward line's total shots in EPL:
Rooney 65
Tevez 71
Saha 19

155

Spurs:
Berbatov 69
Keane 62
Bent 25

That's a little closer, no?

Check my post with the number of shots on goal their forwards have had compared to ours. Then come back and tell me how Spurs create as much as we do. Or chances as good, with a far inferior midfield

Never really thought of it like that, but that's almost true without exception.

Thing is, Ronaldo's not really played as a midfielder these days. He's a sort of inside forward. Somtimes an out-and-out forward.
