Wes Brown - top man
Brown up for the battle - Defender feels competition is good for United
Manchester United defender Wes Brown has welcomed the extra competition for the right-back berth in Sir Alex Ferguson's side. Brown held the right-back role last season as Gary Neville missed the majority of campaign through injury. Neville is now back to full fitness and the emergence of Brazilian youngster Rafael Da Silva has increased the competition for places at Old Trafford. Rafael started the weekend win over West Brom at Old Trafford before being replaced by Neville The 18-year-old is expected to miss out on Tuesday's UEFA Champions League Battle of Britain clash with Celtic, although Brown is by no means certain to play despite establishing himself as England's first-choice right-back. Brown is happy with the competition and believes it can be benefit United. "It is healthy competition," said Brown. "Rafael is a quality young player and I am sure he is going to be the future for Manchester United. "Gary Neville and I have been here for donkey's years, so we know it is good for the club. "We are all fighting for the same place and as long as the gaffer has got that selection dilemma it is good for the team. "Whoever Sir Alex Ferguson picks will play well and give 100 per cent." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,195...362230,00.html Top bloke is Wes & a great professional for this club. I thought he might be pissed at not gettin games but he's his head calm & collected. Of course he'd prefer to be playing but its good he recognises whats best for the team more than anything & that we have a little superstar that will light up Old Trafford in years to come

Credit to Wes. He was left out by Ferguson after Liverpool but got his chance against Blackburn and played a great game - scored as well.
With all these players you can sense there is a good mentality and attitude in the squad, a togetherness. The ultimate credit has to go to Fergie there. |

how could you not love this guy. I had my doubts with him last year when Neville went down but he proved me wrong big time. His crossing has got better and anyone who can shut down Barca for 2 games can defend pretty damn well.

Brilliant attitude to have. Competition is good for the entire squad and we are really spoiled for choice at right back these days. Now we just need Fabio to make things interesting at left back as well.
