this. I once accidentally turned on the shower full force into my laptop. It was acting funny too, so I left it to dry for a day and then it was fine.

Heat might fuck up the circuits. You have to put it in a sealed container with something acting as a dessicant. Rice is the most commonly available one.

Sometimes it's covered by your "indbo"-insurance, even if it's your own fault. You often need to have included some special parts (usually called "electronic insurance" or something similar) though. You didn't sign any extra insurance in the store where you bought the laptop, or did that run out?

Am I the only one wondering how you can still write? Do you use the "insert symbol" trick? Copy paste? Or the boring answer, you are writing from another device?

Yeah I am on a Mac right now. Luckily I had borrowed one from Uni.

Wowi, nah no extra insurance or indbo-stuff. It's less than a few months old (I'm a spastic)

Oh oh oh, I know this one!!

The wife spilled wine on a new laptop last year. We were both drunk so didn't bother to turn it off or take out the battery till the morning. It was totalled anyway so I pulled it apart, dried it out, cleaned it with ******** alcohol and a tiny paint brush, left it in a big box with rice for a few days, put it back together and it came on. It seems to be working ok apart fromt he keyboard which is fucked, but I'll buy a usb board or replace the proper one when I get a chance.
