I normally start with some pints (normally Guinness) then go onto the JD, and then maybe some shots to finish, if I'm out with the lads. It's pretty easy to see a ton disappear on a night out.

It is down to 17% here in Oz and the imminent outdoors smoking ban will help further - outdoor restaurant areas to follow in 2015.

I've spent near on 200 before, without really trying too. It's very easily done.

Why don't they just make it illegal to smoke & be done with it?

My uncle use to smoke 30 a day and i thought that was a huge deal - and you are saying you have smoked as much as 60 per day(). I find that very hard to believe as i never heard anyone say such a high number, probably because i haven't been around that many smokers i guess.

No it's completely possible, there are people who are rolling the next while they're half way through a fag. It's pretty bad.

We had a friend of my Mrs to stay a while ago & her husband smoked 80/90 a day. I didn't think it was possible until I saw it with my own eyes.

You hear of people smoking 100 a day. My aunt used to smoke 40-50 a day- she was a housewife and chain-smoked constantly. Her ceiling was yellow it was that bad.

This guys was 76 when he quit his 100 a day habit.

I'm all for certain things to try to curb smoking, but an outdoor ban, seriously? There are far more poisonous things in the air outside than tobacco smoke. Why not simply take the fucking obvious route and ban the sale of the stuff altogether?

Oh yes, 60 per day is easy. If you smoke one every 20 minutes and you are awake for 18 hours per day.... I went to bed last night at 3:30 or so, and I was up this morning at 7:30, so if I go to bed again at 3:30 I will have been awake for 20 hours - I do this on a regular basis. Sometimes I used to double smoke, such that when I got up in the morning, I'd have a cup of tea and three smokes within half an hour to get me going.

Yeah my Grandad was putting away 100 a day in his heighday. A fucking hundred!

It got to the stage where his circulatory system was shot to pieces because of the effects, and eventually a doctor told him that if he didn't stop immediately amputation was a very real possibility. He's hasn't smoked a single cig since.

I don't even know how it's possible to smoke that much. Logistically, I mean. How the fuck do you find enough time in a working day to smoke 100 cigs? It must take some serious dedication.

I think a bit of MG baiting is a small price to pay if you manage to stop completely...

Baby steps. Plus restriction works and prohibition doesn't.

I love the idea because I live in an outdoor society and I'll finally be able to eat and drink outside at pubs and restaurants ad no longer have to put up with the cloud of combined smoke when entering buildings.

I'm in the process of cutting down and I've switched to a lighter brand. Went from about 15 a day to 8 a day. Still needs to come down. My target is to to be well on my way to quitting by end month. I can't do cold turkey, just hasn't worked for me so I'm trying a new approach.
