Just made a risotto- wanted something healthy and nice that used up all the odds and sods of vegetables we have left.

The pics are bit big, but first up chop the onion, garlic and chillis.

Spoiler

Get the veggies ready- am using Broccoli, carrot, green pepper, baby corn, celery and mange tout. Will use salt/pepper and cayenne pepper and paprika.

Cheers Sol. Reckon with risotto spicy is the way to go, feck rosemary or basil etc...

Anybody got any good glaze ideas for chicken wings? I've developed this one myself through trial and error and finally cracked it today. It's as close to TGI Fridays/nandos as you will get!

Lightly Sprinkle your chicken wings or legs with salt and ground pepper.

Then...quarter of a cup of soy sauce, half a cup/jar of honey, 2 cloves of garlic crushed, 2 tablespoons of tomato sauce. (optional extra: 2 tablespoons of jack Daniels) Whisk with a fork until well blended in.

Pour some as a glaze, 40mins in the oven at 180.

Then pour the rest over the chicken wings and legs as you serve. Puts a lovely smell all through the house!

Yeah, I can't see many Italians recognising that as risotto, but hell, call it Jippy's rice surprise then- I don't care, it tastes good which is all that counts.

Very nice Jippy, although you need to try and get yourself some of this stuff rather than the Schwartz....

That's the medium one, but you can get it hot also.

I'll post my pig on Sunday.

Is that chilli? Might be tricky to get over here- the equivalent of you trying to find your local Indian shop!

It's smoked paprika from Extremadura. It's basically the king of paprika.

Is Basque really a region of Spain? Spain's a region of Basque! And 'Almonds'? why have you capitalised almonds!

I'm basically limited to Waitrose and Tesco, so it might be a struggle.

Bit different, but the habanero sauce we got in Mexico is the daddy if you like it spicy.

At the risk of sounding dumb, does that just change the flavour, ie to a smokey one, or does it intensify/alter the heat of the spice?

Going to learn how to make my mums lasagne later on, apparently she has a secret that makes it so delicious and she has agreed to show me what it is. She makes a simple lasagne its just mince, sauces and pasta oh and cheese on top. Cant wait to have a go at it myself when I go back to London.

The secret will probably ruin your life. You'll find out she's used some obscure brand of jarred tomato sauce for decades and your whole childhood will have been a lie.

I wish, I made it for my mother to bring to her work for their Christmas dinner. Might make a miniature version of it for her birthday in a month though, so will make sure to have this thread in mind if I go for the heart attack-cake

I've decided to go vegetarian for a week, mainly just to see if I can do it and still be satisfied but also curious as to what effect it will have on me. Going for the most basic form of vegetarianism at first and keeping dairy and eggs in.

I started my week tonight, so my first meal tonight was a wild mushroom ravioli in a walnut & rosemary white wine cream sauce. Turned out nicely. I had plans to make my own ravioli (which are very good), but didn't make it to the store until I was already starved so took a short-cut and got the pre-made ones. The sauce came out awesome though.

Now I know you're obviously joking, but I think I'd be genuinely tempted to sit it down on the sofa next to me with a pair of sunglasses on and a can of larger selotaped to it's hoof while we watch reruns of Topgear on Dave.
