Similar to this.

I was in HMV the other day and came across the Alan partridge series. Box Set available including Series 1+2 of I'm Alan Partridge and Knowing me Knowing You. 15 quid.

Same thing with the three DVD's separate (exactly the same casing for the dvd just came without a box to house them all)

36 quid.

Shop assistant had absolutely no clue why that was stupid when I pointed it out to her.

Box sets are always cheaper (that's kind of the point of them - nobody will pay more for a box and some people might only want one of the DVDs for example and so the box would not necessarily be better value for them in that case) and having worked in HMV, I know they have a silly way of dealing with sales stock.

The box set was in a sale I'm guessing (seems that way on the website) whereas the individual DVDs weren't. On the website you can get the individual DVDs for £5 each while the box set is £16. They must not have had the sale stock in for the single DVDs.

In the shop, you receive boxes of stock specifically bought at a discount and to be sold at a discount in the sale. However, on the shop floor you will probably already have the items in stock at the regular price. The company would take a huge hit on the value of stock prices if they changed the prices of those to match the sale stock, so they don't they just leave them there until the sale is over. No customer would pick up a DVD costing £12 when there are loads of copies of them on sale with £5 stickers on them right? Wrong, unfortunately. Loads of people will pick up the one with the full price sticker on it, even if it is right next to a sale priced item and expect when they get to the till for it to be the cheaper price. It's not. Then they start asking the staff a load of questions as if it's them who come up with this complicated pricing and often then get either bored with the explanation or angered by it before threatening to get trading standards in (even though it's perfectly legal).

These bad boys are practically 61% off for Black Friday. There's loads of deals around today for tech stuff (thank you globalisation!) but this is the only one that's made me crack open my wallet thus far.

With all this talk of racist Toblerones, I think I should point out that 400g bars of Toblerone are currently £2 at Sainsbury's, all varieties...

I've got a Viera TV (albeit smaller and LCD rather than Plasma), but it has many of the same features as that one. Can't fault mine and that one looks a bargain.

Tempting but I'm on a self-imposed budget. If I don't need it, I'm not buying.

Just me & the Mrs.

The cost of flights these days is unbelievable, seems to put the scupper any plans we have as soon as we look at the price of flights.

We wanted to go to Nice for a few days & its like £250 each just to get there.

I'd like nothing more than to take the Eurotunnel & drive down to the South of France. We've done it many times, staying overnight in Avignon & down to St Tropez for a week.

Unfortunately, we don't have that kind of bread these days, the good times are over for the time being...
