Agreed. I'm quite surprised to see it in there really. Is there a camp community at Tiger? At Rawaii we only really drank on the weekend, and obviously the fighters never touched a drop.

I'm not a big drinker though so cutting it out isn't really a sacrifice for me, but it will certainly help you get quicker and better results if you either cut down or cut it out.

Two glasses of red would surely have a fairly negligible effect overall though?

I'd have thought this anyway, though I am no expert. I've just been to the gym for two hours. My after-gym meal is going to be a subway roll. It doesn't open until 9.30AM though. The clock is ticking.

I would start with creatine a week or so before you get started with this one, will probably help you some if you're going to be pushed to the limit for 5 days a week. Probably get yourself some glutamine supplements aswell

if it works he might make a lot of money though. a subway and wine diet/ripping regime would sell like hot cakes. well if kingminger hadn't already eaten them as part of his routine.

Well, it's going to be interesting to see how his gut will look like after the subway/wine-diet. Surely his iPad will look like an iPhone after 4 months of meatball subs and bottle of red every night.

When the fuck did I ever say anything about subways?

You guys are well off if you think a glass or red wine is going to have an effect overall when I'm training 4-5 hours a day and avoiding white carbs, controlling cals etc.

I am consuming around 1800 cals PD and around 20 grams from carbs. I am going shed fat fast, as the nutritionist said at the camp. She said a glass of wine a day can actually be beneficial as it helps lower insulin levels and only has 4 grams of carbs typically per glass.

I actually have 20.3% body fat despite spending the last four months drinking no less than 10-12 beers per day average and eating shit loads of crappy foods. With my new diet I will be very lean after a couple of months.

A great read btw-

One glass of wine every now again won't do you harm but if you're wanting to do things properly then every glass is full of empty calories. You drank 10 beers a day?

Be wary of trusting the opinions of any one nutritionist/fitness guru, there's so much shit spouted as the majority are selling a product or incompetent. If you really want to delve into the science behind it all there's always interesting articles on the bodybuilding forum and most of it is discussed at length by people in the know.

Oh and if you're 20% you really don't need to even bother thinking about the complex aspects, you'll lose the first 5-7% very easily.

Thanks for the reply.

I drank at least 10 beers a day on average. I was traveling with four mates from home and we just partied every night. Hence why I wanted to go to Muay Thai camp and get clean lol

Not much of a camp community it, no.

I am cutting down massively on booze. I like a nice glass of wine and a good book before bed. That's extremely normal and healthy

It is normal and healthy, there's no problem with it. Different trainers/nutritionists will give you different info on it as to what effect it has, but it is completely up to the individual. I just found for ideal results it's easier to cut it out completely. But then as I said earlier, for me that was no sacrifice as I'm not a massive drinker and I found it easier to train every day if there wasn't anything in my system.

Rawaii is quite a community vibe and so when we ate together or went out many didn't drink, especially because those fighting obviously couldn't. We didn't train on Sundays so we might have a few on the Saturday night if we went out, but generally I quite enjoyed living a very clean lifestyle out there.

Bizarre comment. Why would I not drink wine?

It's easy to lose weight if you do exercise and avoid heavy carbs.

Because wine is minging. Unless it's super sweet.

I'd love to do what you're doing right now, training every day with no distractions then chilling in a pool in 30 degree heat.

I have to say that this place is literally the perfect conditions for me to shed a few pounds.

Firstly, it's boiling which lowers your appetite and increase your metabolism.

Secondly, because it is a micro-economy around Muay Thai, all the local restaurants serve healthy options and protein shakes etc.

Lastly, there is fuck all nightlife for ten miles and I am on my own so no temptation to go out partying!

Oh, and there is the five hours of training a day available!

What is the community like and the mixing with others? I'd be bored out of my skull if nobody was up for a bit of football/cards/chilling/anything when the training was all done with.

This x 2 for lunch and dinner

Another protein shake at some point in the day when I want it

Chicken skewers for a snack in the evening

Water, coffee, maybe a tea of some sorts, diet coke
1-2 glasses of red in the evening

1 day off with a fair few San Miguel light beers and a footlong sandwich with all the good stuff

Any feedback on that please?

6 x san miguel beer = 9 units x 1 day a week
+
1.5 x glass of red wine (12%) = 2.5 units x 6 days a week

That is comfortably over the recommended weekly intake of alcohol. Add to this the 'boiling' climate, what sounds like pretty intense workouts, increased metabolism, the diuretic effect of the alcohol and general struggles with sufficient hydration (as a result of the above). That level of alcohol will take it's toll, particularly because you will be losing far more water than fat when you begin.

If you are committing to such a heavy training schedule, why not limit alcohol consumption to 1 or 2 days a week?

You sound like an alcoholic, KM. 10-12 beers A DAY? Going abroad to train and lose fat, but still finding an excuse to drink 1 or 2 glasses of wine every day?

As you yourself are fond of saying

Jesus christ you guys are a bunch of woofters.

A glass of wine is healthy. Getting ripped one night a week is good for blowing off steam.

I have done similar but not even as well and got down to 12% bf which is my ideal.

I will lose a shit ton of weight doing what I am doing. My hydration levels are fine as I drink a fuck ton of water.

Live a little you fucking losers

To be fair King Minger, you did ask for advice and comments on what you were eating and drinking. The alcohol was the thing that stood out there. Whilst you've read sources telling you that it aids weight loss, there are many other nutritionists who say that it doesn't.

Hence the questioning of it when you're there for health reasons and making so many dietary restrictions, the wine seemed to negate those sacrifices on the food front. I'm not judging you for having it because ultimately you know best whether you're going to burn it off in training and whether you want a drink to blow off steam, but you did ask for feedback on your diet and the reality is that most serious athletes or fighters don't drink.
