I've got the same again tomorrow, so thats £150 in the space of a week following the shirts.

Come January we could have carling cup, fa cup and CL tickets to pay for! Itr's gonna be a dark winter!

I dont begrudge any club who has poor attendences for CC matches, fair play to the scousers and arsenal for charging reduced prices. Come on uncle malc follow suit!
Well said.

Its easy for some idiots to laugh because attendances are low. I doubt they are match going fans, because if they were they would know how expensive it is to go to football games. Especially £35 for a Carling Cup game.

As you said, credit to Arsenal for charging £10 for tickets. Loads of my mates went and had good time.

What part of "we did not have 53,000 fans at Old Trafford that night" are you struggling to understand?

I reckon there were 45,000 inside, tops.

The Carling Cup usually brings lower attendances for all big clubs, shame you lot cant see that and just look for any blinkered reason to have a dig at Liverpool.

I've said it before, top of the tree yet still so bitter its laughable.
Pro rata there's not much in it. It pisses me off though big style, they should have made it a fiver for kids and filled the stadium, that in the absence of actually educating fans all over that for games like this you can actually get tickets and go. All those local kids who can't affoord to watch Liverpool and we have 16000 empty seats it's a fucking disgrace. Liverpool are a top side in any footballing terms you wish to apply with a huge fan base. So are United but in themarketing side of the club and making money you're on a different planet. Parry is a fucking idiot.

Boro refused to reduce the prices.

All STH's were allowed to opt out of the Boro game.

its not as simple as that Murph. for cup games, both sides have to agree on the ticketing price, and as Crewe get half the gate, 28000 odd paying 25 quid a go gives them more than 45000 at a tenner a pop.

I think everyone is finding money a bit tight at the minute, and when you consider where clubs draw the majority of their fan base, its not surprising that attendances are down, and they will probably be down for every club this season as people have less money to spend

Sorry to labour this point but......

The attendance at Anfield last night for a C.L game was 41097 compared to over 44000 when they played Utd.

Now with no excuses around Carling Cup and reserves playing lower league teams can anyone explain why Liverpool need a bigger stadium if they can only fill their current one for big games.

Liverpool have always struggled to fill their ground for bog standard midweek cup games. It's a long way from Devon.

Additional revenue on Big Games, excuse to charge higher prices.

41,907 actually, clearly an innocent typo on your part, but still making it look less than it was.

Were you not 1500 below capacity for Villareal?

Of course we will have a dig at Liverpool, it's a Manchester United forum ffs.

Even though it's in the football forum, you have to accept that most views will be anti Liverpool.

We had 74,944 for Villareal, a very good turn out for a mid-week gamee.

The club isn't responsible for how you get to the match or your desire to drink beer and eat at the game. The only thing you have to pay for is the ticket. I have season tickets to an NHL hockey team and I don't blame them for how much I spend at the match or how much I spend getting there or parking. The ticket price on it's own is enough to complain about though.

In the current economical climate, is it really that surprising that some ppl are not going to football games? Price rises and less money in people’s wallets, what do you expect?

Villareal, Bolton, Boro have all been on general sale at Old Trafford - this was pretty much unheard of a few years back.

If it wasn’t for the ACS, most cup games at OT would be on general sale and many wouldn’t sell out.

Its ok for you mind, watching the games at home in Belfast on Setanta.

Sure, but clubs know that its not just the price of the ticket that fans pay for. As theimperialinn says, £35 for a ticket is a lot of cash to pay on a wednesday night, watching a second string team in a cup competition that the club dont care about.

Exactly, which means the cost of the ticket by itself was way over priced. There has got to be a breaking point soon for all sports.

Funny that, considering my application for a ticket was rejected because we were sold out.

I'd say the majority of that missing attendance would be down to the fairly low amount of PSV fans who bothered to travel.

I am curious, do they count tickets sold or actual attendance? In the US some sports count tickets sold even though there are 15,000 empty seats, the attendance shows the same as a game that is jammed packed.

Yeah, I bet you were sniggering when we bagged the Premiership trophy, and then the European Cup. I bet you were sewing your sides up as we lifted the two biggest cups in football.

Really, a Liverpool fan having a go at United for an empty trophy cabinet? Could you make it up?

Exactly right.
I was in the Kop and you could clearly see that the away section was at most 1/3 full.
