I guess it's not great to be last, but you get two VERY GOOD WORLD CLASS players whereby I get one of the best but my second pick is unlikely to be even world class.

Being somewhere in the middle looks best to me.
I'd say you're middle of the road if you're 8th or near it. Being first is obviously most preferable.

Nah, I get Zidane, who is brilliant but then I have to wait for 30 players to go before I have another go. I pick two more, then 30 players more...

If you are in the middle you get the 8th best player (probably one you would rank higher actually) and only have to wait 15 players at a time.

In particular, that gives you a lot more flexibility to take risks and make judgement calls when picking. There are players you could make an educated guess no one will pick in the next 15 picks, or you could have 3-4 options for a specific position and it is relatively safe to assume one will be left over, but you have no idea what will happen in 30.

If suddenly everyone starts picking all the CBs within 15 you are bound to still get a decent one (a top 10). After 30 picks you get Titus Bramble left over.

Just to clarify, group winner gets picks 1&3, runners up get 2&4, otherwise there's too little incentive to win the groups.

I prefer given a chance to be near the top but random is random. You have Zidane. Doesn't matter who your next midfield pick is. But there's lots left to go. If I'm smart I pull it off.

Personally I prefer near the top as well, but I guess it's all personal...

You have a very good spot, so does Gio. There's not really too much separating the top picks.

Snow's is actually everything that is wrong about mine, but at the other end. The upside is with some players out and things shaping up he gets to pick a combo in one go early on, which is not a bad thing at all.

Anyhow, there's an element of luck in it and some players do seem to go under the radar entirely. In the 60s version that could point out to a player not being particularly well known and subsequently not impressing voters, but here there's no excuse for not knowing a player.

Where the hell is KM?

I'd say there's three players a class above anything else in the draft and as such the top three teams have an advantage there. Otherwise there's not a massive difference. The advantage I noticed in the 60's draft was being at either end of the order allowed pairs of players to be picked. For example, a pair of complementary central defenders.

But... You went first! Ergo, you get the best player. You say you have to wait 30 picks, but after that and when you've pick again... You then get to go first again!

Perhaps ask those in 7, 8 or 9 positions to trade. They'll be biting your hand off. So am I, fancy it?!

I wouldn't. In a talent pool as deep as this one, I am more than happy in the middle.

Henry was not even in my first 16 possible picks, so no.

The only one I would conceivably trade with so far is Cal. I actually had a hard time not picking but managed to keep a cool head.

I understand the order is favourable, that is obvious, and I appreciate that I get the chance to pick complementary players as a combo, but my point is that as the first couple of rounds are gone there's a whole strategy around picks and risk-taking which can make the difference big time and getting less regular picks will be a problem there.

But then, maybe I'm over-analysing it.

At the top you get to start with Zidane and pick players in combos. How's that not better than being at the bottom?

You probably have plenty of time at the speed it is moving.

If it is ages you are checking try switching to es.wikipedia which isn't down. It's in Spanish, but for that purpose it works.

Hehe. I know. It's just, like Alanis Morisette would say, ironic.

I'll definitely do research. I made stupid mistakes the last time. Gonna be sure now what I do.

It does but you just have to insert 'm' into the domain in the right place and it will take you where you want to go.

Also I don't think I'll be able to play this game, so if anyone else wants to take my spot they are free to do so.

First pick is very hard with so many legends to pick from, I'm going for Pavel Nedved!

Since KM has stated he won't be able to participate further in this edition of the Football Fantasy Championship, i have agreed to take his place. If Cal? could edit the OP that would be fantastic.

Thanks.

Shit, I was really keen on Nedved.

If Crustanoid doesn't pick by 12:05 he gets Heskey and the baton passes to Brwned.

I was suprised that he hadnt gone already - IMO he was better than Davids or Viera at their peaks.

I was hoping people would focus elsewhere. Davids and Vieira are more obvious first picks as they are about giving a spine to the team.
