Also, I think it should be made clear from now what the rule is with regards to picking new players. Does the top team get to pick two or is it alternated? Should be decided upon now before the rankings are decided.

It'll be a real mindfuck if Crustanoid defeats ColdBoy and Kps defeats Cal?
That would mean Coldboy, Crustanoid and KPS Have 6 points. Also that would also mean Coldboy defeats KPS, KPS defeats Crustanoid, Crustanoid defeats ColdBoy, So I'm not sure how the head to head will work here.

Then we could go for the percentage of votes thing.

You just made my brain hurt. I suppose we could go with head to head first, and if its still tied then vote difference?

For what its worth, I remember Polaroid suggested a sudden death game if teams were tied for first place, but this would involve a three way tie so I'm confused.

Having said all that, I'm sleepy and I have the feeling I'm missing something with regards to the three way tie using head to head.

Head to head

and then

Vote percentage instead of number of votes.

Anything other than this is stupid.

I think we agreed the first and second placed teams alternate in picking.

So 1st place gets to pick 2 players from 3rd place and 2nd place picks from 4th place?

Precisely.

Also agree on head to head ahead of vote percentage. Vote percentage is not a great measure either, the fact is some games look like a drubbing when in truth there was very little in them, just enough (at times a non-football reason) to make everyone vote one way as there's no draw option.

Think it's one player each. No need to overkill it with adding 4 new players.

That was my recollection. Not that it makes any difference as I'll no doubt be watching from the sidelines.

Can't decide whether to stick with my Brazilians or bring in some of the better players available from the teams in my group...

Stick with your Brazilians.

How can you compromise your long living traditions? Also you will have to change name of the team.

Don't sell your soul for a little bit more of success.

Not exactly. If Ralaks beats Rood and Snow beats Zen none can go out on a head to head basis and it will be down to % vote difference.

so our group turned out to be the Group Of The Death - the only with all to play for going into the last matchday!

Would it be the same scenario in Group C if Gio beats me and Cling loses to Brwned?

So there's a chance that three groups (A, C and D) can all finish with

1st - 9 pts
2nd - 3 pts
3rd - 3 pts
4th - 3 pts

in which case the head to head rule will apply to none of 2nd, 3rd or 4th basically. I think that's why groups with 4 teams do it based on goal difference in real life. Whoever wins between Antohan and Dan finishes top.

What about:

1st - 6 pts
2nd - 6 pts
3rd - 6 pts
4th - 0 pts

If this happens in group A, Cold Boy isn't automatically through right?

Guess so. So based on vote difference - which I don't agree with, the games that got more votes did so because of the discussion within the threads mainly, and that's something that should be encouraged, but that's just me - there's two ways of getting a total. Either one percentage point equals one point, or we just do an average %. I don't suppose it'll make much difference so let's go with points. How much you lost by is irrelevant, there are no negative points, the only points included are ones for the winning team.

Group A
Cold Boy - 6 pts - 97 vp
kps88 - 3 pts - 9 vp
Crustanoid - 3 pts - 50 vp
Cal? - 0 - 0 vp

Group B
Antohan - 6 pts - 85 vp
DanNistelrooy - 6 pts - 34 vp
Team Brian - 0 pts - 0vp
TheReligion - 0 pts - 0vp

Group C
Brwned - 6 pts - 37 vp
Jayvin - 3 pts - 29 vp
Cling Bak - 3 pts - 27 vp
Gio - 0 pts - 0 vp

Group D
Rood - 6 pts - 48 vp
Snow - 3 pts - 19 vp
Ralaks - 3 pts - 12 vp
Zen - 0 pts - 0 vp

I think that's it. Only two teams have qualified, only two teams are out and any one of the teams from Groups A, C or D could conceivably go out.

If Crustanoid gets 75% of the votes against Coldboy he'll go ahead of him, as will kps88 if he somehow manages to get 90% of the votes. So yeah, more or less. Unless we all decide to sabotage the voting...

Don't agree with vote % but I guess its our fault for not thinking it through and deciding upon something earlier. If I had known VP would play such a vital role I would have continued lobbying for votes even when I was miles behind Cold Boy or I wouldn't have experimented against Crus when I was ahead.

Let's get this moving.

Brwned, when's kickoff time for this so that the managers send you their teams?

Matchday 9
Cal v kps88
Coldboy v Crustanoid

We'll start as soon as people are ready but 3 of the 4 managers changed their lineups last time so I was giving them a chance to do so again this time round. They'll kick off by 9pm tonight at the latest, just under 5 hours time. Coldboy's done that.

I'll have the 3 in midfield with Del Piero just in front of them (to occupy Keane). I think the graphic was posted as my 'alternative formation' last time out.

Edit- although I can knock up a new one if you don't have it to hand?

Edited edit: new graphic ever so slightly more accurate in emphasising Del Piero's role in keeping Keane busy. Three in midfield all great passers, Emerson the destroyer, Albertini the creator, Raul and Del Piero both favour runs down the left (but both intelligent / elusive enough to judge when) and Camoranesi the right, so there's the width needed when attacking and you all know what the front two could do at their peak

Dream Team Football Formation - Fantasy Teams Soccer

Not sure why, but the image tags don't like it:

From now on I am only going to vote if the managers make an effort to trash the opposition and talk up their team - too many of these voting threads pass by with little interest

I'm with Rood - the main reason I took part in these game is to reminisce about players at their peak and learn about some of the older players, and to debate about how they'd all fit into a side. Basically to get involved in discussions that otherwise wouldn't take place, not to be able to say 'ha I can pick the best imaginary team, I'm the winner!'. It's a shame there's so little discussion in some.
