André Bikey

The best Defender in The Championship by an absoloute country mile...I've been saying it for a while, but this guy is supremly talented, he pisses on all the strikers the Championship have to offer and looked comfortable at Premiership level last season. At only 23 years of age, he has a great future ahead of him, hopefully that'll be at Reading, but sooner or later I fear that one of the more established Premier League sides will come calling, if they don't, they're mad.

Anyway...André Bikey...

Love him.

How is reading doing in the championship so far, Sam? How do you rate their chances for coming back up next season?

Didn´t look bad when I saw him in the Premier League last season.

Seems to collect quite a few yellow cards though.

Yeah doing really well now...we've just hit a great vein of form winning our last 3 matches (one of which was 3-0 vs Wolves away) and are currently 3rd in the Table..3 points off top. We started the season a bit slugish, but now we've got going, we look very very good indeed. Much better than I expected tbh.

My only concern is that if one of Doyle or Noel Hunt get injured, we'll be in a little bit of trouble, because Shane Long is awful, and Lita hasn't played well for yonks (and is at Norwich on loan anyway). So that is a slight area of concern.

Yeah, he got 7 yellows in 14 matches last season, which isn't great...but that's Bikey for you

He's a total nut job, but a fantastic footballer.

On February 7, 2008 Bikey was sent off in the semi final win over Ghana after a bizarre incident where he pushed a medic watching over injured team mate Rigobert Song in the dying seconds of the match.

I remember that. Plus, when he came to Reading it was his fifth club at the age of 21? Which strikes me as a bit odd.

Not opposition medics anyway.

Got this from the comments ..

Apparently, the guys in red are the Cameroon medics and Song was "injured" so they were treating him, bearing in mind that Cameroon were 1-0 up and it was 91st minute. The guys in yellow felt Cameroon were time wasting and were trying to get Song off the pitch so the game could continue and you can see the guy in yellow in the left about to shove the red guy.

The question has to be why are opposition medics even on the field of play ?

I remember watching this match with cameroonian friends and they couldn't believe their eyes, one of the dumbest red cards

He was merely trying to save the guy from being shot.

Bikey, a real hero.

Not really. The guy he shoved was actually getting shot in the arm at that point. If you look closely at the crosshairs, after bikey shoves the guy away, another guy in the yellow shirt would've been nailed in the head.

Bikey, not really a hero.
