He's going to have to be a very strong character to deal with the likes of Terry, Drogba, Malouda and Lampard who he is basically the same age as.

2008 and perhaps 2009 were the realistic years Chelsea had of winning the CL. If they had Mourinho for the 2008 final, they'd have won it in normal time while in 2009 they were fucked over by the ref. They had the right set of players during both years..the side is different now, the likes of Ballack have left. Can't see them having a realistic shot at it in the near future, with their core group of players getting older and more injury-prone..unless Abramovich is prepared to spunk out cash and back Villas-Boas, will they get the balance right?
Something tells me for the foreseeable future anyway, probably not. |

I reckon they would have won it if they'd kept Mourinho, that game was incredibly tight, any little thing could have made the difference - he's certainly a better manager than Grant and his record against Ferguson is exceptional. Sacking Mourinho in the early part of that season was one of the worst decisions ever made by an owner.

I'd like to see him getting sacked sooner rather than latter, but I'm afraid he's good enough for the job. I also think they may not be so quick to dismiss him as they have been with other coaches, they invested an unlikely amount on him.

I think he does have it in him to coach at this level, but I do agree he should have put himself out there before taking on a club like Chelsea. I think he's more than good enough to manage a club like this, but maybe not their expectations, well, Ambramovich's actually. He'll need time there I feel, and that's something that isn't really spared over there. It's still mental he got rid of Ancelotti in the first place. |
