Antoine Sibierski shattered by the death of his daughter.

Quote:
Former Premier League footballer Antoine Sibierski has said his family are "shattered" by the death of his teenage daughter.

Sibylle Sibierski, 18, was found hanged at a flat in Altrincham by police who forced the door open on Monday. She had been arrested the previous day over an allegation she assaulted her boyfriend, but released without charge.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, her parents said: "We cannot understand why our child took her own life." Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPPC) has been informed because of the force's previous contact with Ms Sibierski. On Wednesday night, the ex-Premier League striker Mr Sibierski and his wife, Isabelle, paid tribute to their daughter in a statement.

They said: "Sibylle was a beautiful, intelligent, loving and independent girl. "Like most girls of her age she was creating her own life away from her parents. In this we fully supported her.

"We had a normal relationship with our teenage daughter, we had our differences of opinion but the love between us all was strong.

"Sibylle adored her brother and sister. She loved us. She loved her friends. She loved life.

"We cannot understand why our child took her own life.

"We know that she had been arrested on Sunday for allegedly scratching the face of her boyfriend.

"The day after this she ended her life. We don't believe for a moment that Sibylle meant to leave this world.

"What we do know is that our world has been shattered and will never be the same again."

French centre forward Sibierski, 35, moved to Manchester City from Lens in 2003 and made 92 league appearances before he went on to play for Newcastle United and Wigan Athletic. He now lives in Hale Barns, Cheshire, and is involved in the football agency business.

Miss Sibierski was a former pupil of St Bede's College and Cheadle & Marple Sixth Form College. Hundreds of of people have paid tribute to the 18-year-old on social networking site, Facebook.

She is thought to have been working recently as a promoter at the Lounge 31 nightclub in Manchester city centre. The details of her death have been passed to the coroner and an inquest is expected to take place later this year.

Noticed Anelka had a black arm band yesterday, more than likely due to this. Terrible news, thoughts go out to Sibierski and his family.

Always a shame when somebody is in such a desperate state that they decide the best solution is to end their life.

Must be one of the hardest things any parent could ever go through.

RIP

I had to deal with a suicide death in my family recently.

It's so much harder than a "normal" death in that you have so many questions of why and what could I have done to prevent this. In this case the boyfriend will probably feel terribly guilty about what happened.

To be honest a lot of people do not get over this sort of death and no parent should die before their child.

Indeed, one could read 'Sybille' on the armband. Sibierski and him were team-mates at Manchester City in 2003-2005

RIP

You mean no parent should see their children die before them?

It really is sad. Suicide deaths are the worst to deal with, especially if you never saw it coming.

Couldn't agree more.

Seen it in extended family and it is something that simply leaves more questions than answers

It's so sad that some people see their only way out is taking their own life, it's a horrible feeling to have experienced this with a loved one. The poor family with be torturing themselves now with questions of why?

My sympathies go out to the family. RIP.

Pretty fucked up, really. I've actually met this girl a couple of times and all, she's a very good mate of a mate.

Too much too soon, perhaps.

Terribly sad that, and like others have said, suicide often leaves people feeling responsible for a death (rightly or wrongly) as well as their grieving, so it must be an awful thing for her family to be going through, as well as it being tragic for a life to end that young.

Parents will always blame themselves and feel responsible, regardless of the circumstances.

Terribly sad story.

Gone way too soon. Suicide should never be an option. It leaves far too much baggage behind for everyone else to live with.

Don't get me wrong Chief, I've met her twice, both times at a rave. Mate's devastated though, obviously.
