Ashley Young...Best Winger In The PL ?
CURTIS DAVIES would not swap Ashley Young for Cristiano Ronaldo!
The Aston Villa ace has been in sensational form this season to lead his side to just one point behind leaders Chelsea. And Davies reckons Young is the best winger in the Premier League right now — even better than Manchester United ace Ronaldo. He said: “Would I swap Ashley for any other winger? Not at the moment. "You can talk about people like Ronaldo but, the way Ashley plays with a right foot and a left foot, I don’t think anyone can cope with it. “He can actually take it down with his left foot and whip in a ball. He is looking good.” Davies reckons Villa would not be fighting for a Champions League spot without Young. But he urged the England international to sign a new contract at Villa Park to end interest from the Premier League big guns. Davies added: “How good is Ashley Young? He is one of the best players. "Here we have got some good players but he is our most important. He is the one that is going to make something happen. "He is only lightweight but when he gets on the ball he never looks like he is going to get pushed off it and lose it. “If we didn’t have him, we would be a different team. He means that much to us. “It is crucial that he signs a new deal. "We’ve managed to get a good core of young English players together and, if we can get Ashley to sign on for another few years, it is going to be a massive boost.” |

exactly, i try and make this argument with my friend who is a spurs fan. He doesnt understand that when you are an attacking player at a top club, you have to be so much better because you are up against players who for them, it is the game of the season.

Young was the best winger in the premiership in the traditional sense last year. Ie. Set up lots of goals and score a few. He set up 17 in the premiership I believe, second only to Cesc Fabregas.
Ronaldo was obviously more productive overall, due to his ridiculous goal scoring record last season and is clearly the better player. |

As long as Aston Villa is not in frame for Champions League spot, he is off. And Villa won't be getting Champions League football for the next 3-5 years as much as I appreciate the work Martin O'Neill is doing there. He really made them from average to very good. But from very good to CL is another huge and the most difficult step. We will see.
