Right - so he splashes out £1000 for drinks then gives only £200 to the church?

He didn't really splash out on drinks for himself did he, he went to a pub and announced he was paying for everybodies drinks and then went to church and made a donation. Merry Christmas to all I say. He's a cockend at times but credit where it's due. He could just have easy gone to a posh place paid for his own drinks refused to talk to anyone and gone home.

What a dive.

Actually it would have been fine if he had splashed out 1000 on himself then gave 200 to church...but the irony is he decides to be "charitable" but his choice of charity was £1000 to the drinkers and £200 to the church...something wrong there!

Not really, for 1 thing you don't know he's religious, I've been to church at Christmas and I'm not religious, any donation given should be respected, also the £1000 was devided between a lot of punters, it's not like he gave 1 person a grand and the church 5 times less, he paid for what looks like everybody in the pub and then gave the church more in one go than he effectively gave each punter in the pub. Also didn't he give a tramp a grand or something after he left the casino in Manchester opne night?

It's a sad time when people dissect donations and charitible acts and try to prioritise them or say someone should have given differently to how they did. It's still a charitible act whichever way you try to make it look.

So? Nothing wrong with what he did, I'm sure the locals in that pub would have appreciated the gesture immensely..he didn't have to do it.

If he also gives to regular charities then you can't really fault these random acts.

I do wonder what bs stories you could make up and get people believing when it comes to Balotelli though, nothing seems too outrageous.

Anyone care to give it a go?

But could he of thought of a better ways to give a £1000 , could of given it to sick kids or an old folks home but his choice was to give it to a pub , who most of them would not have a clue who he was.

From the Mirror:

Quote:
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has told enigmatic striker Mario Balotelli to quit smoking - but will not play the overbearing parent.

Balotelli, who continues to attract as much attention for his antics off-field as for his performances on it, has been pictured smoking cigarettes socially. Mancini is aware of the 21-year-old's habit and does not approve, but says it would only be an issue if Balotelli was his son.

Mancini said of his fellow Italian: "I know he smokes. For me it is not okay - but I am not his father or his mother! If he was my son I would go to him and kick him on the a***. But he is not my son."

He added: "I told him, for me it is better if you don't smoke.

"I am against cigarettes - for this reason my son does not smoke. But there are players in Italy and here that do smoke.

"I don't think he smokes a lot of cigarettes, five or six a day - but I told him."

Balotelli, who has scored 11 goals this season, was infamously forced to move out of his house in Cheshire in October after fireworks set off from inside his bathroom sparked a blaze.

Mancini said: "He lights up the fireworks with the cigarettes!"

Despite continuing to attract headlines - Balotelli was also involved in a training ground bust-up with team-mate Micah Richards earlier this month - the former Inter Milan forward has been a much-improved player this season.

Mancini has rotated him with Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero in an effort to keep all three forwards fresh and in top form and he hopes that policy will pay off during a tough January.

Mario Balotelli, a Hilton hotel, New Years Eve and 24 tramps... - Sport Witness

Annie Eaves tweets makes me laugh -

Sophie-Ellis Bextor found headbutted to death in a former French footballer's apartment. Murder on Zidane's floor.

AC Milan's Zlatan Ibrahimovic says Carlos Tevez "would be an extra weapon" for his team. He ain't wrong there.

Its stupid for footballers to smoke. Its not exactly stressed by clubs, because its absolutely widespread and the players should realise it will only hinder their performances, but what can the clubs do? Its a habit, so its difficult for them to control. Virtually every club in the league has at least one player that smokes though.

As far as I'm aware, Rooney, Berbatov and Macheda are the only smokers in our team.

As far as the charity goes, it is not only ignorant, its insulting to suggest that he "should have donated more". Millions of people go their entire lives without making a single charitable contribution. Who am I to say how someone spends their own money, let alone how much they should give to charity.

He does needs to fix his attitude on the pitch though.
