Disgusting. Should not have been on the pitch to claim that penalty.

No doubt he'll be handed a ban for that, but the damage has been done, he's just gained City 2 points.

He should be banned for 10 games at least. Shocking. And the dive right after the stomp could have been a yellow too.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini on reports Mario Balotelli was out until the early hours of Friday morning: "I didn't read the newspapers. I will speak to him tomorrow before deciding about the maximum fine I will do. I'm really disappointed. I need to speak to him because I don't know what has happened. I will stick with him because he's a good player but I will speak to him tomorrow about the fine. Maybe he missed four goals for this reason."

Mario Balotelli is asked to leave the Trafford Centre for wearing a hoodie

Manchester City star Mario Balotelli has vowed to wear a better disguise next time he visits the Trafford Centre – after being asked to leave for wearing a hoodie. The madcap striker refused to remove his hood when he was shopping with a friend – for fear of being mobbed. Customers are banned from wearing their hoods up by centre bosses because their faces cannot be seen by CCTV cameras. Balotelli was approached by security staff and asked to take down his hood because of the ban – and an Italian-speaking Trafford Centre worker was dispatched because of the language barrier. He explained the ban – and asked him politely to remove his hood. But the controversial star said he had finished his shopping and was ready to leave – so would make his way to the exit. He joked with staff that he would need to work on his disguise before returning – to avoid being mobbed by hordes of football fans. A source said: “He was very charming – there was no scene. He wasn't booted out. “He didn't want to take his hood down because he knew he'd be spotted by his fans but he was very polite and understood why he was asked to remove his hood. “Rules are rules and they apply to all visitors – whether they are footballers or not.” It is understood that Balotelli is a regular visitor to the centre – enjoying trips to designer store Selfridges and dining out at Pesto restaurant. A spokesman for the Trafford Centre said: “At 9.02pm on Monday, March 6, a customer was approached by security staff, and advised that wearing a hooded-top covering the head is against centre policy. “The gentleman decided that rather than take down his hood, he would prefer to leave the centre. He was polite and friendly throughout the encounter. The customer, who is believed to be a regular visitor to The Trafford Centre, then shook hands with our security staff and departed for his car. “The Trafford Centre has worked hard to ensure that it consistently provides a safe, relaxed and friendly environment for our guests to enjoy. “As part of this we have in place a guest code of conduct that helps maintain standards that are expected at the Trafford Centre.” It is the latest bizarre incident to involve the 21-year-old Blues player. Just last week he was reported to have broken a pre-match curfew to visit a lap dancing club in Liverpool, incurring the wrath of manager Roberto Mancini. Other off-the-pitch antics have included swearing on live TV, being fined for allegedly throwing darts at youth players and being forced to flee from his rented Cheshire house after a friend set fire to his bathroom when he let fireworks off through a window.

His interview with Noel is gonna be awesome....seriously, I hate to bang on about it, but his English is insanely good, he's been here what....18 months? He barely slips up on slang or anything much either, very rarely see fluency that well in footballers after 5 years, forget a year and a half.

As far as I'm aware he spoke English before arriving in England. He's of Ghanian origin, where the national language is English, although I'm not sure the role that has to play in it.

And I do not get the attraction to him. He comes across as an absolute knobhead who has absolutely no respect for anyone or anything.

He does seem to have respect for some things though and he seems to have his morals. Remember the story of him standing up for the schoolkid who was being bullied? It shows that he's not a mindless idiot who doesn't think. He clearly has his views on some things, and will stand up for what he thinks is right.

Nobody really knows all about him though, which makes him an even more intriguing character in my opinion.

You can always tell he'll have been up to something when you see this thread being bumped, can't you? It's so obvious. I've never seen a footballer, who has a lot that we could talk about on the pitch, receive so much attention for his actions of it. Almost all of this thread discusses the man himself, as opposed to him as a footballer.

The lad is just an Enygma. BBC world service radio recently did an in depth look into Balotelli's life. The investigation showed him to a special person and a decent human being who also happens to be eccentric. When he matures, the rest of the world will get to know the none eccentric side to him more consistently.

If he gets up to half as much as whats claimed it's great. He's living life as fun as possible, nothing wrong with that. Yeah he's cocky, arrogant, shows some lack of respect but it's pretty harmless and not everyone could get away with it. I quite like his 'don't give a fuck' attitude to be honest, it's refeshing in a way with all the 'professionalism' footballers are expected to have these days. Some people could do it and I'd think they're an absolute cock. Not Ladotelli.

NG: There’s a lot of very, very, very funny stories that are written about you in the papers. Can you tell me if some of them are true or false?

MB: Like what?

NG: Did you turn up at a women’s jail in Milan and ask for a tour?

MB: No. I know that for go to jail you have to call them and you have to have like an invitation. So I have to go in one of them, but it was for men, no? And I was with my brother. Where I live, there are two prison like one mile away. So the gate was open and I went in the wrong one. Then they have to check everything, and after like every time someone just talk, called the press…

NG: ....And said that you turned up and asked for a tour?

MB: Nah, I didn’t. Just stupid people.

NG: Is it true that a young lad turned up here at the training ground, asked you for your autograph and you asked him why he wasn’t at school, and he said that he was being bullied. So you took him to school and spoke to the headmaster?

MB: No, it’s not true that I took him to school. I tell him why he wasn’t at school, but I didn’t took him to school.

NG: Are you having lessons to be a DJ from Tim Westwood?

MB: Errr no… I had a picture with him, He asked me a picture. That’s it.

NG: What do you think, because, the British press, they’re known for making up stories about everybody. They used to do it to me and my brother a lot.

MB: Erm, I think you can do what you want if you stay in the line. They that go out from the line? Kill them.

NG: Did your mum send you to John Lewis for an ironing board and you came back with a quad bike…

MB: Yeah, that’s true.

NG: Yes. A quad bike, a Scalextric and a tennis table?

MB: Yeah. No, A tennis table, no. The trampoline...

NG: [laughs] A trampoline? What would Mancini say if he thought you had a quad bike and a trampoline at your house?

MB: He knows!

NG: Is it true that you went into a petrol station and paid for everybody’s petrol?

MB: No, that’s not true.

NG: Okay. Did you drive round Manchester dressed as Santa Claus?

MB: [rolls eyes and smiles] NO!

NG: Did you give a tramp a thousand pound after winning in a casino?

MB: Never [laughs]

NG: Good lord. Did you go to church on Christmas Eve?

MB: Yeah.

NG: Did you put a thousand pounds in the collection plate?

MB: No. I put… I don’t know, but not a thousand.

NG: And then did you go to a pub in Wythenshawe and buy everybody a drink afterwards?

MB: No, I didn’t.
So the one, remotely interesting story that's actually true is that he bought a trampoline. Well, fascinating.

Yes, exactly. I do not get the fascination with him. In fact the best thing I've heard him say, was apparently in that interview:

Quote:
NG: As a Manchester City supporter, I've supported Manchester City for 40 years, 40 YEARS can you believe that? That's a long time. What I wanna know is when you first got the call about coming to Manchester City, had you heard anything about the club at all?

MB: No, nothing.

NG: Nothing at all?

MB: No.

NG: Apart from we play in blue and we were rubbish apparently.

MB: No I didn't know nothing.

There's also the fireworks in his house and the rolling pin fight in the curryhouse that didn't get asked or answered. The former is more likely to be true than the latter though.

Balotelli has been built up to be some sort of Chuck Norris with all of these antics reported. Not a surprise that most aren't true or are just grossly exaggerated.
