Bojan.

Has asked Spains coach Luis Aragones not to include him in the squad for Euro 2008 cause he thinks he isnt ready and it would be too much pressure from him.
i dont think it would be too much pressure on him cause he probably wouldnt play much.what do you guys think?

It would be a good learning experience. Why not go with the squad if you are selected?

What is it with these Barcelona players asking not to play? That club could do with some discipline at the moment, in danger of becoming a big bunch of fanny's.

If he's good enough to play in La Liga and the Champions League he's good enough to play for Spain, regardless of age.

Sounds like a bit gay doesn`t it?

You had Ronaldo and Rooney in big competitions at similar age who were dying to show themselves. They did as well.

That's a bit sad, not like all the countries hopes would be on him. They have quality players all over.

If he says he can't handle the pressure he can't handle the pressue, better than going along and bottling it on the big stage.

Precisely.

If he feels he isn't ready, then fine. It's ridiculous he's playing so much and so well at his tender age, anyway. If he doesn't want the weight of country on him when he's not even eighteen yet, then he's perfectly entitled to not get that.

if you want to play for a big team then you have to accept the pressure. He's playing for barca ibn the league, champions league. He's done well. I don't see what his problem is

Give him a break, he's 17. Theo Walcott went to the world cup when he clearly wasn't ready, that did him the world of good didn't it. If he doesn't think hes ready yet then fair enough.

Theo Walcott had played 0 games for Arsenal at that point.

Bojan has featured regurarly for Barcelona in La Liga and CL. They really can`t be compared.

Ah. Just read that. Thought he was purely serb and had just been in Spain long enough for citizenship. He was born in Catalonia.

He is right. That 17 year old will have many more tournaments to play in. He is the new and improved version of ( I fucking hate to say this ) Romario.

Extremely premature isn`t it? Considering what Romario has done over the years and the fact that Bojan still hasn`t really done anything.

That's a huge thing to say about someone who's only just emerging even if he is a phenomenal prospect. Romario is the second best striker i've ever seen so i'm a bit more reserved.

What i will say about Bojan is that this is not the attitude you would expect of a world class player in the making. Professionals cannt afford to have a lack of esteem; they must be ambitious, determined and fully self confident. I appreciate that his time will come but could you imagine a 17 year old Ronaldo doing this?

Unfortunately, this mentality is something which you acquire at birth, it cannot simply be instilled. You'll find that it seperates the very top players around the world. Would Ronaldo be as good if he was a shy lad? I doubt it.

I'm rather suprised by the romanio comparison but I think you have an interesting contrast. Romario had much more belief and he would not only go to the euros, he's talk about being top scorer and probably shag alot of women during the tourny

It's much to soon to make such a comparision. The boy has done fine but most of his reputation is based on what he did at lower levels. Come back in 2-3 years time and you'll see where he stands

It's bottle. You either have it or you don't. No amount of big games will change that, you may become more experienced, but if your first instinct is to withdraw every time the going gets tough, then you will always struggle. Big players ALWAYS want to play the big games. Fact. No matter how nervous they are, real footballers revel in, and grow into those occasions, once they are out there.

I know he's a 17 year old boy, but this makes me lose a lot of respect for him.

Interesting. Bojan still hasn't made his NT debut for Spain. The last time he was meant to play was in some friendly but he had 'stomach pains' and now he is asking to sit out the Euros. I heard a rumour that the Serbian mafia are putting a squeeze on him but discredited it, but it makes me think twice now...

UNdoubtably a tallented boy but realistically he wouldnt be capped by now if not for the hype and the fact he has serbian blood.

They already have David Villa and Torres up front and a whole host of established players so i don't think it would be bad for Bojan to develop at a lesser rate. Allow the kid to grow a little, 17 is very young.
