Classic Photos
I've taken a few iconic photos, and had my artistic way with them, which basically meant colouring in the shirts of the players in question being worn. Did one for someone else on another site, he's having it blown up onto canvas for his front room. Think I fancy doing that, have to find the right photo mind. Anyway, great shots these, enjoy

To do these pictures, you basically convert a color picture into black & white, and then layer this b&w image on top of the color image. You then 'color' over the areas you want to be their original color with a transparent brush. This makes the area transparent so that you see the original color below. This method is actually very straight forward - adding color to a black and white image is much more difficult since you have to do all the shades yourself. There's a great tutorial here: http://www.gimp.org/tutorials/Selective_Color/ You can I think follow this process in Photoshop, but for those who don't have this program, you can download GimpShop. Despite it's incredibly dodgy sounding name, this is basically a free art package written in Open source so it can be freely distributed. It is designed to have a similar feel to Photoshop and can be downloaded here: http://gimpshopdotnet.blogspot.com/ Quality pictures Brad - be good to get some hi-res images. I'll have a search on Getty later today and see what I can come up with too. |
