I never saw much of Alex, I don't watch the Premier League regularly.
I think David Luiz can be a very good player. He's very good in the air, fast, physically strong and is rather good technically as a bonus. What I think he lacks is consistency, and specially this season he has been awfully over-confident and cocky and had some really bad games where he's been the weakest link of the defence. But these problems are more of an attitude thing and I suspect going to a better league and knowing he'll have tougher competition for the spot and less merciful fans (for his childish mistakes) he might regain some humility and eventually become a very good player. Sometimes when players don't leave when they expect to, their productivity really goes down. It happened at Porto with Meireles last year and it's probably what's happening with David Luiz this season. A transfer to a better league might very well bring back the best on him (or not). |

From what I've read and the very little I've seen, Luiz is a ball-playing centre half, probably a good partner for the likes of Terry and Alex. This signing says quite alot about Ancelotti's opinion of Bruma, for me. 21 million is a very hefty outlay and a big show of faith from Abramovic, given his relatively modest spending of late. Will be interesting to see how this pans out.

He's not that dissimilar to Rio. Ridiculously good on the ball, good in the air, and very pacy and strong. I still havn't seen him seriously tested defensively but seems to make plenty of blocks and interceptions in a game.

This is getting very strange, why can't Chelsea get people to sign for them?
First Pienaar, then Aguero and Gonin (if that was true) and now this. Very strange. |

When have really big transfers happened in Jan? Rarely. Obviously very few teams would not risk a season and lose one of their best players even for a lot of money. |
