Nick Barmby
Played for England around the turn of the century and was part of Sven's first England team. Then in 2004 at the age of 30 he left Leeds for Hull City in League 2 and stayed with them until he retired (helping them climb to the PL in the space of a few years) |

I like that though, he must be 40 odd now, so it doesn't seem like "sinking" - more someone who's retired but fancies playing a bit of footie at the weekend.

Mike Flanagan - Used to be a quality player in his heyday. In his late playing years he spent a season at Margate as a player. I know this as I played against him in training. I was in the Under 18's and we played a match against the first team.

Ps ... haha Paul Merson is registered for a Sunday League team in west London. A guy I know played against him a couple of weeks ago - beat them 6-1 ... apparently he was giving out all sorts of shit to his teammates for generally being a bit shit.

Trezeguet was at some Chinese team I think where he kept on picking up mysterious injuries and eventually terminated his contract after 3-4 months. He went to River due to family and the fact he always wanted to play there and his injuries have disappeared. Think he didn't like China very much and is now just playing for his love of football.

The man is a twat. I support Altrincham and a year or two ago he ended one of our players' career. Gets the worst abuse I've ever seen a player get at Moss Lane (Alty's home ground) and rightly so. He wears orange boots playing centre-back in the conference north for fucks sake, you can't be much more of a prick than that.

Gabriele Ambrosetti - he still haunts me for being absolutely useless. Basically a non-exhaustive list: Ronaldo > Robben > Pires > Bale > Ljungberg > Kewell > Gronkjaer > Stanic > Zenden > Rommedahl > A dead cat on a stick > Ambrosetti. He played about twenty times in the league for us in four years which basically tells you how rubbish he was considering we had a string of rubbish wingers at the time in Zenden, Gronkjaer, Stanic etc who were keeping him out of the side. |

![]() No idea how I missed that one. Good players dropping down to lower leagues: Kevin Nolan. I bet he always plays FIFA on semi-pro, too. |

And to think that he was still only 31 when he left Fulham.
The idea that Best would be playing top flight football in the 80's seems absurd and like he'd be dragging out his career, but it wouldn't have been inconceivable - definitely not by today's standards and probably not if he'd looked after himself. |

Ah. Err. Yes. Andy. Damn Johnson's
Edit - Off topic but you can almost make a team of Premier League Johnson's: Johnson (Liverpool) - Johnson (Wolves) Johnson (Man City) - Johnson (Norwich) - Johnson (Man City) Johnson (Fulham) The dreaded 2-3-1. No Goalies though. |

Arjen Robben - a lynchpin of title winning sides at PSV Eindhoven, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich is far superior over more years, in more countries to what Pires was.
Tell me somebody else who was a key player in title winning sides in the Netherlands, Germany, Spain and England - he ripped up the premier league in 2005 like no winger had since Giggs. |
